Let me begin by admitting that I am very ignorant when it comes to Internet service. Currently we have Verizon 3G service for an iPad. It is terrible service, hardly ever has a signal, and when there is a signal it is slower than dial-up. Its gotten to the point where using the ipad is useless. Any advice or recommendations on where to look for service? I was thinking Atlantic BB but don't know anything about them (we have directv for tv). Any help is greatly appreciated!!!!

For 3G celluler service, you probably wont do any better than Verizon. I have AT&T 3G iPad, and it can be slow at times also.
To speed things up in your house you should definitely have WiFi. I believe Atlantic BB Internet & Verizon DSL are your 2 choices. Verizon DSL will be cheaper and should give you all the speed that you need for an iPad. ABB is better if you are streaming multiple things at the same time.

If you mainly use it at home, get a wireless router and go wi-fi. I can tell you that on the island, if Verizons signal is low, ATT's signal is usually stronger and vice versa, from my experience. I dropped the 3G/4G service on my ipad and just use my phone as a Hotspot, now. I use ATT and have no complaints at all.

Verizon works great for us. Odd Yup. The truth is, it really depends on where you are located. Not all telecom companies use the same towers and they are not all in the same vicinity, so signal can be strong or weak depending on location and provider.

There were a bunch of building permits for AT&T tower construction or renovation in QA county. AT&T could be getting better. I just got a Verizon MiFi card and I was getting 4G anchored out in the Wye last weekend.

Verizon was horrible for the first 17 years I lived here. They finally put up that tower at Rt.8 and Kent Point Rd and now I have 4G service. It is almost to the point that I am tempted to get rid of my home phone service. I still hate Verizon though.
To your question, just get home internet service with a wireless router if you don't have it and use wifi like the others suggested. Cost should be about the same and you can use it for all of your wireless capable devices.
