see the commissioners approved the 014 budget. a 5.5% increase over prior year. Gives the schools a $3mil increase (for the next two years) and county employees get a nice pay raise. Gee...our house has not seen a pay raise in five years due to "budget constraints". Looks like our personal budget will get even more constrained. Maybe now the county will cut the da*mm grass along the shoulders so you can see the on coming traffic.

I highly doubt the average person will see any benefit to this increase in spending other than less money in our pockets. I wish I had never bought a home in this county even if I've lived here all my life.

And we still have the highest County income tax rate in the state. What's the point of voting in Republicans when they do the same thing as the Dems

This group of commissioners, all 5 republican, have cost each of us more than all the previous commissioners combined.

They are the worst set of commissioners I have experienced in my 12+ years in QAC. Take the worst of the Democrats (high taxes, high spending, too many regulations) and combine it with the worst of the Republicans (unchecked development, in pockets of business) and you get what we have now. They are horrendous. Really they are not all Republicans. Two of them are clearly Democrats who ran as Republicans to get elected in my opinion. (Simmons is the most obvious)

People didn't vote for a person or a promise, they voted the party line. Maybe next time, people will pay attention to what the candidates have to say and vote for the one that most matches what they want to see in the county rather than the one with a D or R next to their name.

This is terrible. That person making $15/hour with there $0.45 hour raise will now move in my my neighborhood and trash it up!
I find it annoying when people complain about folks getting a 3% raise (the first raise they have received since 2007) saying "well I haven't got one at my job so why should they." If thats the case NO ONE ever should get a raise. Cause some where there is someone who just had a pay cut or no raise this year.

I think this is because everyone uses up all of their "give a f---" on the election of the man with the least influence in their daily lives, the President. No one cares to inform themselves on the rest of the elections. They put too much trust in their party to only put forth good candidates, or at least better ones than the evil opposition.

I think you would be hard pressed to find an old grouch who is more anti-tax and anti-gov't interference than me, but it does not really matter what your party affiliation is. Our county is in over it's head. Nothing the elected QA officials can do will satisfy all of the residents. From the National level all the way down to QA county we are mired down in decision by committee with the loudest whiner usually having the most influence.
This county could be a model for the rest of the state, but many poor political decisions have been made to satisfy a few loud whiners.
At the level of Queen Annes county, party affiliation has little influence on how a local official tries to do his/her job. The influence comes from the loudest whiners.
WalMart, Four Seasons, Homeland Security, etc., I wonder what state the county would be in if those projects had gone forward without the lawsuits and whining?
