If it's not on the Forums, it's on the Kent Island Online "Facebook" page. Sometimes things are only on here and sometimes only on there... www.facebook.com/kentislandonline

3 hours later and I still had to deal with traffic backed up to the middle of Annapolis.

I was suprised at how quickly it cleared. At 6:15 it was still a major back-up through Annapolis. By 7:15 everything was at-speed... all the way through.

Speed is not the issue...incompetent drivers are the issue. If u can't drive, stay off the road. People panic over the smallest things causing massive damage.

I see tons of speeders speeding along who aren't harming anyone.
I also see tons of people who change lanes without looking and ensuring no one is next to them, or are about to be next to them, and they are the true danger to everyone around them.
As long as you're not going too fast for the turn you're taking, speeding won't make you crash into a ditch. As long as you don't rear end a slower driver in your lane, speeding won't make you crash into anyone.
What WILL make you collide with someone else is entering THEIR right-of-way.
But which violation does the state police write more often? Speeding. Lazy policing makes for poor drivers.

just toooo much traffic out there to be speeding you never know who will decide to pull out and not see you or not care if you are near them.

Stay right except to pass. Worry about the car in front of you, not the car behind. How many problems could have been avoided if only those two simple rules had been followed?
Who cares how fast the guy next to you is going? Let him go as fast as he wants; heck, frequently that guy passing you has lights on top (not flashing of course) and is a highly-trained professional driver. If you aren't passing the guy to your right, move into that lane. As someone else stated here, long ago, if the car in front is closer than the car behind, you are the slower vehicle and should move to the right.
In this case, unless I missed something, the cause of the accident has not been determined, or at least has not been publicized. Could speed have been a factor? Sure, if the car was stopped then it would not have crossed lanes. Was excessive speed a factor? That remains to be seen. Maybe we should wait for the investigation before we start arguing how green cars made by Pontiac are intrinsically dangerous.

Heard it was a diabetic having a medical but not sure if that's accurate
That said 95% of the bridges issues are idiotic drivers that have no business driving a car

Demand tougher drivers license testing, and demand periodic retesting for all drivers.

You would also not believe how many people are terrified to cross the bridge. Staring at the road ahead with a death grip on the steering wheel, never getting to the speed limit. Approximately 30 people a day need to use the bridge crossing service because of fear. I see a lot of impatience with other drivers. Unnecessary slowdowns, sightsee'ers, scared drivers that can't drive near the railing, impatient drivers, all on a bridge that has far exceeded its capacity. So when they gonna build another bridge?

The bridge is a two or three lane highway that happens to be on a bridge. How people drive so differently on that span is amazing.
I agree with Falgar.. keep track of the person in front of you. The one behind you has to come up and hit you if they follow too closely etc.. Granted, when you see someone speeding on the bridge weaving in and out of lanes, you do wonder where the police are at that time. Lastly, I always wondered what is it about the downhill side of each span that makes people slow down like they do then kick it up once off the bridge.

We'll i can tell you for sure that they are enforcing lane changes into and out of the fast lane WB. Also asked the nice officer about day time running lights. He said that they do not count and you are required to have the full headlights on.

Another member posted a video of MD STATE police moving in and out of it. I'm going to continue to do so. When not under 2 way operations, there is NO reason I can't safely change lanes between the 1 and 2 lanes.
