Queen Anne’s County Republican Primary
“…by the numbers”
June 17, 2014
As we approach the Primary Election Day next Tuesday, one of the hot topics is “how much money is being raised? Who is raising the most money? Who is spending the most money?” While this information is important, it by no means determines or predicts the outcome of any election but some campaigns use it as a gauge in how well they may be doing vs. an opponent in the same race.
The following is a compilation of the revenues and expenditures for some of the major contested seats in Queen Anne’s County for the Republican Primary. The information in the report is a summary of an analysis performed of the campaign reports filed for the first six months of 2014 through June 8th as required by the Maryland State Board of Elections. The reports and filings are available for viewing on Maryland’s Board of Elections Campaign Finance Database.
The information that follows is analytical only and to be used for informational purposes and not an endorsement for or against any candidate or group of candidates. Some campaign reports filed contained minor errors that were corrected for this compilation. Due to this, we assign a 1.5% margin of error to the total reported figures below since we expect some reports to be amended for the corrections.
This was compiled by Vito Tinelli, co-owner of Shore Accountants in Centreville, MD who is currently an elected Member of the Board of Education, a current Candidate for the Register of Wills, and advisor to many local political campaigns. More detailed analysis of this information is available by contacting Vito Tinelli or Heather Tinelli at Shore Accountants at (410) 758-6900 or by email to vito@vitotinelli.com.

Conclusion
Each campaign operates independently and separately and no two are alike, either when comparing campaigns within a single race or when comparing a campaigns from one race to another campaign in another. Some campaigns rely solely on all donations received while some campaigns operate solely on the use of their own funding. Spending also varies per candidate. This information presented may be a valuable resource for some, for others, it is just more background noise in the whole political process we all endure during election time. While the information above is purely financial, the most important thing to bear in mind this election are the issues and what candidate you think best represent Queen Anne’s County.
