Captain Ferris and Laura Butler, US Army (Ret.) are hosting, BLASTING FOR THE BRAVE, a fundraiser for two leading veteran charities - the Pat Tillman Foundation and Project Healing Waters. The fundraiser will include a Sporting Clays Tournament and family fun day at Pintail Point on the Eastern Shore of Maryland. The event will include fishing, children's activities, a silent auction, a shooting demonstration by Beretta sponsored exhibition shooter, Travis Mears, and a catered lunch.
Ferris was severely injured in an IED explosion in Iraq in late 2006, resulting in the amputation of both feet. Over the last 8 years, Ferris and Laura have been assisted by countless nonprofits that they credit with their seamless transition out of the military. As a way to pay forward and say thank you to those who were there for them when they needed it most, they are hosting a sporting clays fundraiser on Saturday, September 6th to bring together the local community and to benefit the military non-profits that are truly making a difference in the lives of our injured service members.
The Pat Tillman Foundation is a nonprofit that provides scholarships to veterans and spouses seeking higher education. Laura is a Tillman Scholar currently pursuing her Masters of Fine Arts in Interior Architecture at George Washington University.
Project Healing Waters is a Maryland-based nonprofit that shares the healing powers of fly-fishing with disabled veterans across the country. They were responsible for Ferris' first adventure out of the hospital many years ago and continue to aid in his recovery to this day.
