Project Manager
Headquartered in Stevensville, Maryland, RTI Group, LLC was founded in 2003 as a forensic engineering services company, with origins dating back to 1975 by the founder of FTI Consulting, Inc. Anamet Inc., a forensic materials testing laboratory in San Francisco, California became a vital asset to RTI in 2003. In 2004, RTI founded our London office, RTI Ltd., as a wholly owned UK subsidiary that is the home office of the Aviation and Marine Departments. RTI Latin America was established in 2008 in Panama City, Panama as an extension of the London office to serve Latin America and, in particular, the Panamanian Flag State and Canal Operations. In 2010, RTI expanded U.S. operations by opening a west coast office in San Francisco. The company opened our Bahrain branch office in April of 2011 to provide security and safety services, as well as access to other RTI disciplines in the Gulf and Middle East region. We continue to expand our worldwide range of analytical capabilities and services to other parts of the globe.
ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY:
The Project Manager is responsible for all aspects of managing specific client matters, from developing the initial proposal to collection of the final bill. The project manager also provides input for general management, including scheduling, resource allocation, revenue projections and operational productivity process and procedures.
PRIMARY DUTIES:
• Work closely with the lead consultant on a matter to ensure that lines of communication between the client and RTI are established and maintained during the course of the engagement and that a mutual understanding of the scope of work and related costs exists between both parties.
• Build and foster relationships with client contacts.
• Recognize opportunities during ongoing projects to expand RTI’s involvement.
• Define the scope of work to include a list of deliverables and deadlines.
• Oversee progress of work to ensure delivery of all work product within established time frames and standards of quality.
• Manage expenditures within budget estimates.
• Maintain communication with client and project team regarding changes to proposed work and budget modifications.
• Insure inputs to billing system accurately reflect case status, revenue projections and authorized budgets.
• Initiate, review, edit and send out invoices in a timely manner.
• Follow up in accordance with established procedures to ensure timely payment by client.
• Establish and maintain good working relationships with other offices and departments in the company.
• Promote uniformity of office procedures and consistent high quality of final work product.
• Travel as required to ensure effective management of case activities. (Minimal notice possible).
Desired Skills and Experience
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:
• Minimum 5 years’ experience in technical project management, account management, or a related field.
• B.S. or a B.A. college degree required in related fields to RTI’s areas of business as found on its website www.rtiforensics.com
PREFERRED SKILLS:
• Experience in a service providing environment.
• Flexibility - ability to work under tight deadlines, ability to handle multiple tasks through prioritization and time management skills.
• Excellent communication and organizational skills.
• Proficiency with computers and Microsoft Office software.
• Demonstrated proficiency in leading people in a team environment.
• Experience with budget development and working with spreadsheets.
• PMP Certification and/or MBA preferred, but not required.
• Possession of sufficient credit to facilitate travel if and when required.
• Background in the engineering or legal industry preferred, but not required.
