Thanks Rich, but that's actually Bates Trucking, who I'm trying to get a way from. Looks like I'm stuck with them though. Ugh.

I've had republic for years and never a problem. The others seem to change hands every other year.

Chesapeake Waste. I've had them for about 3 years and have had no issues with them.

Are you sure that is Bates? I thought they were separate companies, unless bates bought them recently. I have had Bates since they came to the shore and never had a problem. Check Waste Management. A bit more expensive, but they won't squeeze the juice out of their truck in front of your house.

Called Republic and they want $140 a quarter. No thanks. WM and Chesapeake don't service this area anymore. Oh well, guess I'm stuck with Bates.

About a year ago he was singing the praises of this company, and when asked if he OWNED it claimed he didn't. A little looking through some older message showed that he did.

Bates has been up/down in our neighborhood over the past couple of years. Now, they just plain haven't picked up for a week. When we call they give us false promises to come out and never do. From what I have seen most of the complaints come from Grasonville - East. Frustrating - I own a small business and understand "growing pains." Perhaps, I'd hold my breath If their customer service offered that they were encountering unforeseen problems, were working to have them resolved, and offered to credit my account. Instead, they are emphatic that I am being marked "urgent" and someone will be out that day....day after day, after day. Who has time for this mess? If I come up with an alternative, I'll post.

Looks like they missed all of Bay City today. We got a letter a few weeks ago with the new recycling schedule also. It's supposed to be this week but it looks like no one else knows. Only one of my neighbors has their recycle bin out. All calls or emails to them go unanswered.

Only one of my neighbors has their recycle bin out. All calls or emails to them go unanswered. I thought they were missing recycling weeks until I realized I was misreading the calendar, which was very counter-intuitive. Recycling pickup is every-other-week and the calendar is labeled with green weeks and yellow weeks. I assumed the green weeks represented recycling weeks, and discovered I was wrong -- yellow weeks are recycling weeks. I'm not saying your issue is the same, but maybe? This is a green week for me ...

I've had them for a couple years now and they are way better than Waste Management....cheaper too. The one time they didn't pick up my trash I called and they said their people were still in the area and would pick them up. I told them it wasn't a big deal and I would wait until the next week. A half hour later they were at my house picking up the trash and appoligized for the inconvience. I don't live in Grasonville so I can't speak on your problems which I understand can be very frustrating but I also wanted to make sure that people know that they aren't all around bad. I hope they resolve your problem quickly as it sounds like they may have gotten "too big, too fast" and are having problems keeping up in some areas.

Looks like I spoke too soon. I was driving out of the neighborhood late on Monday and saw the recycle truck coming in. They didn't pick up my street and maybe some others. I am hoping it was a new driver. I will call them tomorrow.

So far, I've been very pleased with Bates. We've had them for a few years now. I can't think of a time they didn't pick up. Also, some of the things I have put out were questionable (giant boxes, lawn trimmings, furniture, etc) and they've picked up everything.

This is a green week for me ... We received a mailer stating trash pickup/recycling was changed to Mondays. We have always been on Mondays. I'm on a yellow week according to the calendar they sent with that mailing. Still no pickup yesterday. There is no way to talk to anyone on the phone. Facebook posts are unanswered. Looks like I spoke too soon. I was driving out of the neighborhood late on Monday and saw the recycle truck coming in. They didn't pick up my street and maybe some others. I am hoping it was a new driver. I will call them tomorrow. Good luck, their automated phone system will just keep redirecting you to the main menu. Voice mailboxes are full. I work near their office in Bladensburg. I may stop by during lunch today.

I have been trying for a month to get trash service in Chester from Bates. I finally got in touch with someone on March 7th (after several calls/emails) and submitted payment for my 1st qtr and I still do not have a trash can. Is there any other trash and recycling service that has not been bought out by Bates or whose name is not Waste Management?

I did get an automated response in an email and then a real response via email this morning. It didn't tell me when I would have service, so I called. I did reach the person that emailed me. Iesha is her name. She said she would get someone here today. I knew that wouldn't happen, because this was at 2pm. I have since heard from my neighbor that they will be out Thursday. They received 25 calls from our community. Apparently they just miss the whole community. I am not upset. everyone makes a mistake. I just want them to make it right. For $60/quarter, i am not going to complain too much.

So I finally got through to Bates Trucking and spoke to a very rude Tracy. She insisted that next week is a recycling week. I explained to her that I have their recent letter from last month and recycling calendar they sent to me stating trash service was changed to Monday and yellow weeks on their calendar are a recycling week starting April 29th. My neighbors have the same letter and schedule. She kept arguing that I was wrong and if I know what today's date was. We both agreed that today was the 24th (lol) but she refused to believe that I was telling the truth about our calendar. I offered to scan the document and sent it to her. She stated that there was only one version calendar and she didn't need it. I'm done with them.

I thought green was recycling too. They should've put that on the calendar, or only highlighted the recycle weeks.

I didn't have the calendar anymore, but when I got the calendar, I put the dates into my computer. I couldn't back up with proof like you did. So, I just said ok. They will be out next week on Monday and take everything we leave out there. I think everything will be good then. It is not worth changing to me. They screwed up, but if they make up for it, I will be ok.

I was polite and stated that recycling on my street is still sitting there on Thursday when it was supposed to be picked up on Monday. I asked if they were coming this week to pick it up. That's when her attitude started. I remained polite the whole time while she tried to treat me like an idiot that doesn't know the difference between yellow and green. She stated that there were zero complaints about missed recycling collections. All she had to do when I called was state recycling will be next Monday and I would have been happy.

Hello everyone. While I unfortunately can't help you with a different trash service provider, I can offer reliable recycling service with weekly pick up at a very reasonable cost ($11 per month, one-time $15 account set up fee - No hidden or unexpected charges or fees) and provide you with 2 collection receptacles to use while you have our service. We also can assure you that your recycling is being truly recycled. With so many trash companies jumping on the single stream recycling bandwagon, it is not clearly told what really happens to those materials that are mixed. We offer dual-stream collection, where all of your containers (glass and plastic bottles & jars, steel and aluminum cans) can all get mixed in one collection bin, while fibers (paper, cardboard, etc) stays separate in another bin. This way the paper doesn't get contaminated with the 'gunk' from old food and beverages, and the containers remain in tact with minimal glass breakage so it can actually be recycled into bottles and jars again. When that material is all put into a compactor truck and then dumped at a sort facility, the glass is all crushed and screened being mostly used for landfill cover. While that is a one time re-use, it is not infinitely recyclable. We are currently providing service to recycling customers on Kent Island and would gladly expand our route to include Chester and other areas in the vicinity. Please feel free to email me at OfficeManager@InfinityRecycling.org with any questions or call the office at 410-928-3333. Our website also has lots of information including a list of all the materials we can take and a examples of what not to include in your recycling.
