One or more of the breakers if not the main breaker itself could have possibly become damaged from a power surge either when the power kicked off or coming back on. Definitely nothing to mess with so get an electrician out to your home asap. Let us know how you made out. Good luck!

Sounds like a potentially hazardous short in your circuit panel. Have it fixed ASAP.

So as all of us were enjoying the snow today, our kids anyway, we found ourselves without power for a few hours. Since however, we have found that our Main Breaker in our panel is tripping every few hours which has never happened before. Heard one other couple having the same issue near Marling Farms. We are in Kent Island Estates. Anyone else noticing this? You definitely need to have the panel inspected by a qualified electrician. Another possibility is that the main breaker is undersized for the maximum load. If you use a heat pump, it probably went to emergency heat because of the extreme cold. Emergency Heat uses a lot of amperage and could max out the breaker. The panel and the main breaker need to be able to handle the maximum amount of amperage that your house can use regardless of the outside temperature.
