What is my email telling me?
Since I retired last year, I have spent more quality time with my unsolicited email. I am constantly getting messages and I want to understand what the email world is trying to tell me. Already today, I have gotten messages urging me to buy a walk-in tub and a stair lift. Yesterday, I got a message urging me to explore the world of male enhancement products and another company thinks I need burial insurance. Trixi, a well-endowed single in Arnold who I’ve never met, wants to exchange pictures with me. I don’t think that is a good idea. All kinds of people want to help me with home improvement. I have sent many of these emailers messages asking them to discontinue their emails, but that does not seem too effective. I’m getting messages from outfits that want to help me flatten my tummy. I did not realize how many people are concerned about the shape of my tummy. I guess I should be flattered, but it embarrasses me to be honest. A prince from Nigeria wants to make me rich if I will share my bank info with him. Tomorrow, I turn 63 and I can’t wait to see what new opportunities will show up in my email.

Happy Birthday! Must be nice to actually retire. Hopefully it will be in my future.
I receive a ton of unsolicited email too. Most are simply deleted as they show up, but for the last several months I have been getting phone calls on my cell. Everything from refinancing my mortgage, cutting credit card debt, paying off school loans, or last chance to extend the warranty on my 1996 Toyota. I didn't think they could call your cell phone. How did they get my number? It seems in the electronic age, nothing is off limits anymore. Anyone else getting all these phone calls?

I get lots of calls on my cell. I think they spoof the numbers so it appears local. I pretty much never answer unknown numbers and 90% of the time no voicemail. If they call more than once I block it.

The best thing to do is get an account from google (Gmail) or yahoo. Both of these have a spam folder and will automatically send the junk mail to this and away from your inbox (legitimate mail). Servers like Atlantic Broadband and Verizon don't do this and it gets frustrating. Also if an occasional piece of junk mail makes it into you regular inbox you can select it and tell it that this mail is spam and it will throw all future mail from this sender to that box. Both of these are free with much more benefits such as a cloud to store files and also google has free applications that microsoft will charge an arm and a leg for like word, excel, and power point. Again , all free.
