Here comes another season of our beaches and fishing piers being overrun by non residents who leave piles of trash behind. They fish where you are not supposed to fish and leave rusty hooks in the sand, they leave dirty diapers in the woods at Terrapin Park, and some even camp there when it is not supposed to be permitted. Forget going to Kentmorr after Memorial Day, it is now Virginia-East. That's gotten so bad that they check women's purses at the beach entrance because the foreigners sneak food and drinks in, then leave the litter on the beach. It still seems to happen, even with security. Most barely, if at all. speak English, so communicating with them doesn't seem to happen.
Kentmorr is private, so if the owners cared about keeping locals there, they could just make it a membership club and charge a yearly fee. Most of the locals that I know don't go there anymore because of who is going there now, so the owners must be making enough money for them not to care. The thing is, there are more than enough locals that would pay a fee to go there and the business wouldn't need to have doormen or constant cleanups going on, plus the neighboring community would not be screaming about the parking and litter problem.
Terrapin Park tried parking restrictions for county residents only, but the business park continued to let the Virginia people park right outside of the park, so they just walked in, right by the guard with their fishing poles, coolers, and tents....all not supposed to be permitted in one way or another. The piers are the same too. There is a wonderful local group "Kent Island Beach Cleanups" that picks up after these slobs, but even that isn't enough. Something needs to be done to keep Kent Island nice, but it seems that officials are afraid to do anything since most of the offenders are "minorities" and in today's climate they are untouchable. Truth is most of us don't care what nationality they are, we just want them to go away and leave our area be, or play by the rules.
