well, you actually have two different questions--which is your favorite, and which do you shop at the most. my favorite is safeway, but it is too expensive to shop there the most. acme is very expensive as well. i still shop at acme for this and that, depending--it was the only game in town when i got here, and not even in that store!

I shop at Food Lion the most but I do go to Safeway for cat food, cashews and avacados if Food Lion only has rotten ones.

I'll drive to Safeway even though it's the farthest from home. It's clean, well-lit, and well stocked most of the time. We take advantage of club pricing whenever possible and enjoy the variety of items offered; fresh bread from the oven, hot bar, Panini sandwiches, hot soups, etc. Also, my youngest son works there which gives us an extra 10% off store brands.

I LOVE Safeway, and would PREFER to shop there, however, I can only afford to shop at Food Lion. Safeway has the most awesome fruits, veggies and meats of all stores around the area. I just can not bring myself to shop at Acme because the smell just turns me off as soon as I walk in the store. Food Lion isn't that great on their produce, nor am I thrilled on the deli, or meats, but, I can come out with more groceries for the money. With a family of 6...that is a MAJOR factor in my decision on where to shop.
(I just wish FL had better training for the baggers...stop squashing my produce!!) LOL

The bananas at Food Lion are really starting to irritate me. We go through lots of bananas in my house and I have been getting lots of rotten ones. They look fine on the outside but inside they are brown. I have even tried getting 2 of one batch, 2 off another, 2 off another and still, rotten. The avacados are usually rotten too.

I shop food lion for my regular shopping, and will go to safeway for certain things on sale. It just seems like every time I do my regular shopping at safeway I end up spending $100 or more than I do at food lion.

I bought bananas at Safeway last week, $0.19/lb. They were great. They do have the best produce. I also loved Publix in the south. Another good supermarket.

i like all 3 for different reasons. Safeway is closest to my home, and has most of the stuff i like. Food Lion IS cheaper, and i very clean and neat appearance, and very nice workers..... Acme has some things i don't find other places. Mars is like that, too, but i don't know of a Mars on this side of the bridge - at least not close.
What do you all think of the seafood sections? I love fish and shrimp, etc, and would love to know the best place to get mine!

I shop at Safeway, BUT, the clerks are rude. If you ask anything they look at you like you are nuts and how dare you bother them, the entitled cashier. Acme seems dirty to me. Food Lion is somewhere in the middle. I drive to Easton sometimes and go to Giant, if I also go to Walmart (see Big Box issue). If Giant comes here, I will never set foot in Safeway again.

I agree Safeway is falling behind and checkers have been somewhat rude recently. A couple times I was going to actually complain but Bruce was not there - only the sour-faced guy that seems to be the asst manager. Maybe that's the problem. I hope Bruce isn't retiring!

I go to Costco twice a month for grocery shopping. If I need a gallon of milk or something small I go to Food Lion or Safeway. Acme is just too expensive...and the exceptionally few times I have gone in there it smelled funny

I thought it was just me.

Found out - Safeway store mgr., Bruce, IS retiring (I think they said this April). Rats. I like him, too. He's always so friendly and helpful and energetic!
