Warning this is going to be long.
Funny how one can drive by that place and barely give it notice. It wasn't until it I saw the movie "Enemy of the State" with Gene Hackman and "Will Smith" that I first noticed it. It appears in the beginning of the movie and is called the "Kent Island Intercept Station" in the film.
I did some research on the place and these are the relevant excerpts: From an NSA history timeline: 1961 - The NSA opened Joint Processing Centers in Okinawa and Frankfurt West Germany and Kunia Hawaii, and built the Kent Island Research Facility on Cox Neck Road on Kent Island in Chesapeake Bay. The NSA provided intercepts and information on organized crime to Attorney General Robert Kennedy's Organized Crime Section, and provided information about Cuba to the FBI. The Karamursel post monitored voice of Yuru Gagarin during his April 12 flight on Vostok 1 rocket. --------------------- James Bamford writes in The Puzzle Palace: Inside the National Security Agency, America's Most Secret Intelligence Organization, Penguin, 1982, (paper) pp. 230-31:
Although some microwave testing may be done by engineers in NSA research and development spaces in the floors below the big white golf ball at FANX, most of it, apparently, is conducted in the utmost secrecy at a mosquito-filled swamp on Kent Island in the Chesapeake Bay.
Using the Army Corps of Engineers as a go-between, the NSA in January 1961 negotiated a five-year lease for the 210 acres on Cox Neck Road with the Diamond Construction Company of Savannah, Georgia, at a rent of $4500 per year. Four years later, on February 24, 1965, the NSA executed its option and purchased the site for $48,500.
Considered a "classified facility" by NSA, the location consists of a one-story, white, windowless NSA Propagation Research Laboratory, which houses between $250,000 and $350,000 worth of automatically operating, unattended equipment. Also on the site is a small, white, cinder-block control building inside a barbedwire-topped chain-link fence. Near the control building are a number of unusual antennas. One is an awkward-looking radio direction finder -- a large, steerable, rectangular antenna resting on top of an air-conditioned, windowed control room raised one story above the ground. Another appears to be a satellite transmitting antenna built atop a two-story platform. Others are a round, white radome raised about a dozen feet above the ground; a high-frequency, broadband, rotatable log-periodic antenna on top of a seven-story tower with a small, dish-shaped microwave parabolic reflector at its base; a low-frequency long wire antenna;, numerous high-frequency antennas atop sixty-foot telephone poles; and, finally, what seem to be several microwave horn radiator antennas resting on the ground inside the fence and, apparently, another horn-type antenna on top of another seven-story tower.
Known within the R and E spaces of the Puzzle Palace as the Kent Island Research Facility, its purpose was explained by former NSA deputy director Louis Tordella during a closed-door hearing before a Senate subcommittee. The Agency established the facility, said Tordella, "for the conduct of research and evaluations on very-high-frequency and microwave antenna systems. These systems are peculiar to the Agency's mission. The area utilized to conduct this type of research and evaluation must have a low radio noise interference level. The types of antennas used in these systems require a wide, unobstructed view of the horizon. The size of the Kent Island tract (210 acres) is adequate to allow experimentation and development of several compatible projects simultaneously." More specifically, as Tordella elaborated at another time, "we are on Kent Island ... examining anomalous propagation effects and other peculiarities associated with our problem of intercept of communications....
Although the facility is largely automatic and unmanned, it does have one resident engineer, Harry (Link) George, a burly island resident. "I'm the chief and crew," George said when asked how many people work there, adding, "It's a crew of one." With regard to the owner of the, facility, however, all he would say was that it was part of the Department of Defense: "Anything other than that I can't say." ----------------------------- 1. A 31.34 acre tract which was formerly part of the Kent Island Facility is located between Cox Neck Road and Maryland Route 552, just south of the Town of Chester, Maryland. There are 178.66 acres fee and 0.16 of an acre easement of the Kent Island Facility currently active. The current owner [of the inactive portion] is the State of Maryland, Department of Natural Resources.
2. A tract containing 210 acres of fee land, and 0.16 acre of easement was conveyed to the United States of America by B. F. Diamond Construction Company, Inc., by deed dated 24 February 1965. This property was acquired for the National Security Agency for an antenna site and an access road subject to a graveyard reservation recorded in Liber SS#2, Folio 274, together with rights of ingress and egress to burial site.
3. A site visit conducted on 18 November 1988 revealed that the 31.34 acre parcel was utilized by the National Security Agency as a radar facility buffer zone. No structures or utilities were constructed on the site. DOD maintained control over the property during the period of DOD ownership. -------------------------------

Speaking along the lines of 15 seconds of Kent Island fame: Did anyone see the episode of Bones (which is based in D.C.) a couple weeks ago where a suspect of a crime was going to leave the country via Kent Island airport? The funny thing was, when they got to the airport and showed the water view, you could see the Washington Monument - which we all know is not the view from Kent Island Airport! Unless there is an airport with that view that sounds like Kent Island Airport, but I could swear I heard them right! Just curious.....
Don't believe everything that you read. It is used for way more than a microwave station. I used to ride dirt bikes back there on the property and my fiend and I have found anything from an underground staircase, to tank tracks back in the woods. That place is creepy as it gets especially at night. I also know someone personally and very trusted that lives practically next door that have seen something as big as an airplane or rocket explode in mid-air above the facility in the middle of the night. But the weird thing is that the next day there was nothing in the paper or the news about plane crashes or any other incidents. Believe anything that the government claims that it is, is always 10 fold. Why do you think the NSA specifies the site as classified? I also know why the barbed wire fence was put up overnight all the way around the facility but that is something that I cannot talk about on the forum.
Probably not because not all islanders grew up a half mile from the facility or had full access to the property until about 3 years ago. I know of about 10 other people that actually know of these other events happening, most of which I grew up with.
And look at the highlighted words you can read about MJ12. This is just one of the websites that has this file. If you go to Google and search for “Kent Island NSA Facility” you can read more information about it.
I a guy I worked with, his grandparents live on the opposite side of Cox Creek from it, he said he was on a four wheeler back there and there was tank tracks. Native I'd be interested in you tell me some stories off board. I looked at the facility in Google Earth, I don't see much of an area for tanks to be hidden.
Thanks, this is interesting. But can tank tracks look like bull dozer or other equipment? What would tanks be doing? I can believe the secretive stuff but tanks are a tough one. one would ask why. Look at mapquest and ther is a new feature to look at aerial photos similar to google earth. It makes it easy to pin point. in the photo I saw, looks like about a 1/2 dozen cars in the lot. not just one employee. no tanks.
Maybe “tank tracks” was a bad choice of words. What I mean is that in certain sections of the woods there are metal-like chain link grates that are 10-12 feet wide and span about ½ mile sections of the property. So they aren’t actual track prints left over from tanks. I say tank tracks because I have heard from more than one notable person who has lived here all their lives that the military used to do training missions with tanks back in the woods. I doubt they still do but they sure as hell resemble what I have seen back there. There are no trails leading to these tracks they are just randomly placed throughout the wooded area. But still, why would the military/government have or want to do tank training missions on Kent Island; if that is really what those tracks were used for. It just doesn’t make sense. And “Greensboro Mike”, ask your friend to verify what I am saying, if he was really back there which I’m not saying he wasn’t, then he could explain what I am talking about.

Research the Mitre Corperation as regards MJ-12. They were in charge of an elite spinoff of MJ-12 known as The JASON Group (spelled in all caps.) The Mitre Corp and The JASON group are concerned with UFOs and that is basically what they are messing with over there on Cox Neck Road. It's a little "Area 51" if you will. Those microwave antennas are used to intercept signals from outer space. Don't bother taking my word for it. The information about MJ-12, The Miter Corp. The JASONS and everything associated with them is freely available on the internet. I never believed any of the "conspiracy nonsense" before myself, but I have seen and experienced way too much around here. If you go to Kentmorr Airpark's site, you'll note that the Webmistress Pat Massimini and her Husband Vince work for The Mitre Corp. They also control the Kentmorr Airfield. This is my neighborhood and there is something very sinister going on here. www.kentmorrairpark.com/ email@example.com

Been followed out of my n'hood, crank calls, crazy covert-like emails and you name it, all just because I have a Ghost Website? WTF, it's a free country. My next door neighbor works at the Naval Academy and word has it that this has to do with him. A neighbor down the street says that he bugged my house over the Ghost stuff. Guess the Ghosts must have spilled some beans that they shouldn't have, oh WELL
I believe everything SleepingDragon is saying and so should everyone else because a friend of mine and I have had the same experiences almost identical. I have been researching the Kent Island NSA facility and all of the above for about 2 years and have plenty of other information and first hand sightings that would make non-believers change their minds. I would love to chat about this but rather not do it on the forum.

Soooooo glad to meet ya native. I was having a hard time getting my husband to believe me until they started messing with him too (LOL!) Then they started sending those crazy emails to my son as well. I find it all quite amusing, frankly. I was able to hold signs up right here in my home office and get an instantaneous email response to it. I'd sit inside and look around outside with the binocculars, come back to office, & get an email that said"You almost got me!". I guess I shouldn't say that I've had a blast with these crazy coverts but life would be pretty boring without them after, yeah, nearly two years. There are some good ones too that know what's going on, so don't worry. ;D
I have always wondered about the so-called “Country Club” myself. Normally I would say that the property could be one of the many scattered islands of the Bay, but one could also access that by boat not just plane. Then it would only make sense for the club to be back in a densely populated wooded area with a landing strip cut out.
I really don’t appreciate your sarcasm and I am sure no one else here does, so please realize you are way outnumbered on your beliefs to ours. Plus we have far many more facts to back up our opinion than you do because, “are you people for real?”, isn’t exactly saying much for your disbelief other than the fact that you are just another close minded person that likes to live in their safety zone of ignorance to anything else going on around you. So please I don’t mind questions as long as they are not stupid mocking ones because I’m sure you don’t like stupid answers.
I knew you could find the interest in this topic bchevy. It’s nice to get away from the same old talk on the forum. There will be plenty more to read about so read on. If you do a little research on the topic, I promise it will serve for some really interesting reading material. Try searching Google for Kent Island NSA facility, MJ12, JASON Group, or UFO sightings in Maryland.
me thinks the conspiracy theorists are getting emails from the teenager next door. Could it have been that those 'following' your friends are a schizophrenic’s vision or maybe the guys just thought she was cute? Maybe what I am reading is part of the Dharma Initiative?
and believe me, there is no shortage of stupid answers...
oh I forgot, maybe the teenager next door is putting pot in your coffee? 'I' think that it's funny, so does your ghost, he just emailed me... My husband says he thinks our George Forman is now haunted, I guess it's contagious I am just not sure what 'it' is...
