You sure, I don't know, Why don't you answer my questions. Better yet, why don't you tell your buddy to lead by example and not by fear and intimidation and do as I say and not as I do! Scare you, heck, it scary what we know and many others don't and SHOULD know! What violent actions are you referring to? I have never posted anything about violence nor have i ever or ever will make any endorsements to any violence! So DON'T put words in my mouth!
Barking up the wrong tree, you know what I am talking about! Since its also obvious that your man makes command decisions off of what is on here, is the work on the cars now put out to bid, or is it still no bidding back door dealing with the buddy in PG county?

Good detective work pete1,adam1,guest and all other pete1's like I said your clueless! How about dinner! Did I say punk yet! WOW! A statement like that when you already stated that you are a current employee of Queen Anne's County Sheriff's Office in a previous post("whoever wins I will still have my job"), makes me wonder, who is the current sheriff hiring and who does he have working for him. "Thats an operation that cuts the nerve that runs from the eye to your a--hole, it keeps you from having a shi--y outlook on life!" That is a very mentally unstable remark from a member of the Queen Anne's County Sheriff's Office and really reflects a negative image of the current sheriff and who he has working for him for a member his department to admit on line that they are an employee and to make that kind of a remark. I sure hope Sheriff Hofmann or one of the members of his Command Staff is reading this post and addresses members of his agency making remarks like " Thats an operation that cuts the nerve that runs from the eye to your a--hole, it keeps you from having a shi--y outlook on life!" Deep Sea, as a member of the department after you admitted you were, you really acted in a manor to bring a negative image on the Queen Anne's County Sheriff's Office by your remark! We might not all agree with the current sheriff, however this time, I hope he will take corrective actions for your remark!

Falgar25: Is you last post directed to me or deep sea? If it is to me, I don't believe I violated the rules of KIO. I just stated a point and at no time did I bash anybody. Now as to deep sea's comment "Maybe you should get a analopticrectumie. Thats an operation that cuts the nerve that runs from the eye to your a--hole, it keeps you from having a shi--y outlook on life!" I am just pointing out that I hope that the Sheriff or his command staff addresses this issue posted by a person who claims to be a member of the Queen Anne's County Sheriff's Office. His statement brought a negative image to the agency and needs to be addressed. I am pretty sure that by the Maryland Police Training Commission if a member of a police agency makes a mentally unstable remark, they are to be administratively suspended and sent to the department doctor for a mental evaluation! With Deep Sea's remark, I just hope the Sheriff or a member of his command staff looks into this issue!

Yo bobomalone, I don't have any anger issues. Its what I know is scary and I don't believe I am on steroids, that is another issue! Will deep sea go into hibernation now, just like topliss did? Are you now going to respond to everything now in lieu of deep sea? Deep sea's remarks were over the line if you asked me and don't you agree that for a member of a police agency to make remarks like that there is a problem? I just made a point that either Sheriff Hofmann or one of his command staff members needs to look into somebody stating that they work for the sheriff's office and acting in a manor that brings a negative image to the department, needs to be looked into! I and others might not agree with Sheriff Hofmann, but when a member of the agency acts and speaks like deep sea did, I hope that the Sheriff will do the right thing and address that issue!

Dear Adaml,
If you truly care about Pete, and wanting for him to become our future sheriff, IMHO it would be best for you to sit back and let Pete talk. You really are not helping out his campaign at all. I don't know you, and please don't take my opinion offensively. However your posts promoting Pete, your bashing about the car, etc. are only hurting him.
If you want for Pete to win, may I suggest posting positively? Talk about what Pete stands for , not attacking members here. Attacking surely does not win votes. Be a good salesman and sell Pete's values and virtues, not negative bashing.
Many voters read KIO. Please take that into consideration before you slam someone else.

2 invisible users......Thank you my friends. Anybody who knows me will tell you that Pete Richter fights his own battles. Some times when you fight you need help. Anybody who needs help fighting a crime problem, or a corruption problem will have me on their side when I'm Sheriff of Q.A.Co..........Deep Sea.. It's better to be quiet and be thought a fool than to speak up and remove all doubts.

What a bunch of double standards here! I did not bash anybody in this board nor have I endorsed any candidate. I might have spoken positive on a candidate, but again I have not endorsed anybody! I just addressed Deep Sea's statement. At no time in this form area have I bashed anybody! I just addressed an issue with a person claiming to work for the county Sheriff's Office and that the department's administration needs to look into this person's statement for the negative image that it casted on the agency! I can guarantee you one thing if Deep Sea is an employee of the county and he made that remark in person, as an agent/member of the County Sheriff's Office, I am sure that citizens would be making phone calls filing official complaints and an Internal Investigation would have been open on the employee for their remark!

pete1,adam1,guest and all other pete1's My, my you would think that a former police officer of baltimore city would check his facts a little more closely! I prove my point on how quick you are to attack and accuse other of wrong doing. You showed your anger without all the facts, you saw only what you wanted to see and you jumped on it! Sad really..... just letting the people of Q.A. county know how your inability to see with all the anger you have for your fellow police officer clouds your vision! Hows the saying go? ?? Its better to be quite and be thought a fool than to speak up and remove all doubts! I think thats how you put it? Swastikas and now the threads........... Good luck pete1, I don't see it happening for you!!!!!!!!!!

Back to the topic of the post:
Our family went to the fair tuesday and had a great time! Met Mr Steffens and Mr Banks and so far they seem to have a refreshing take on law enforcement in our County. They both seem highly educated when it comes to law enforcement.
I also saw Mr Hoffman and spoke to him and some of the deputies about things going on in the county.
Way too early to decide anything about voting for our family since everything is like a year out yet. Going to be interesting to see how these two candidates present their vision for us in the up and coming year.

What is their "refreshing take" on law enforcement? I also spoke to them and they seemed more interested in bashing the current administration than enlightening me as to their attributes. I get the impression that Mr. Steffens thinks of this job as a "management" position rather than a hands on, community policing position. Was not impressed.

Eileen. They did not speak about the current Sheriff at all to us. Mr Steffens spoke about his management experience which I guess in any multi-million dollar operation is important. Mr Steffens also talked about his involvment in sports at Queen Anne's High and his family. Mr Banks spoke about his experiences in the County and all over the State and about his family too. I must say he has done just about anything you can think of in law enforcement.
But again, we heard no bashing, just talked about their experience. Both guys seem nice, their wives and family were their. They seemed like good family people.
There is a long time before we all make a decision. I'm sure there will be other candidates and a lot of information will become available about everyone within the next year. For know though, we at least have one candidate running in addition to Mr Hoffman.

BEWARE of the "MANAGEMENT PROS". This is what has taken the agency into the mess it is in. IT IS ABOUT POLICING THE COMMUNITIES, STRONG LEADERSHIP AND GOOD POLICE/COMMUNITY RELATIONS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! MANAGERS BELONG IN K-MART AND CRACKER BARREL.

I agree with you Brians. Some people who have management experience are not necessarily qualified to become our Sheriff. Not to insult K-Mart or Cracker Barell. There are good managers, and bad managers in all aspects of business. They could be corporate managers also.
Bottom line, there are some very insecure managers who get a rush controlling people, and then there are managers, who treat their subordinates as a member of his/her team. The kind of manager who is a leader, someone who supports their team, not insults their team, someone who is well respected in our community. By their leadership skills.
If there are problems within our department, and honestly I do not know, I want for the most educated, and the most understating team player to lead our department. Someone who isn't their big brother, but someone who leads by example.
Not a whiner, not a complainer, but a leader to keep EVERYONE in the loop, and being a team player for what is best for QAC.

- . You have said it!! Some of the worst supervisors I ever worked for, claimed their "Fame" was based on many management classes and seminars. The real truth was they lacked job experience and knowledge, street smarts, leadership, team concepts, common sense and above all people skills. With this type of supervisor/manager (Who do not play well with others) only leads the work place into low moral and poor employee production. These leaders/supervisors/managers become a liability rather then a company asset.

- & brians......I worked for a Lieutenant who had 23 yrs. on the job with no arrests to his name. He retired at 25 yrs. as a Captain with an arrest record of zero. This man could type like a secretary, kissed A. like a pro, never hit the bricks alone, and ruined the morale of the GOOD POL LEASE. When the S. hit the fan he went the other way with his tail between his legs.....After visiting a fellow Police Officer who had his throat cut from ear to ear, I met the Lieutenant in the vestibule of the hospital on my way out. He informed me that I was off my post, and began to chew me out. With no witnesses in sight I physically straighten him out. From that point on I had no more trouble with him, nor did any of the other men. However, he did have all the diplomas from all his management courses.

So with no witnesses, you physically assaulted a supervisor? I really don't think I would want to elect you for anything now pete. You seem to be a bit unbalanced there. You come off, in your own words, as a sissy boy.

I do not want to speak for any candidate but maybe I emphasized the management part too much. During the course of the conversation Mr Steffens said that it was important to have good police management skills since a large part of his job was to make sure the millions of dollars allocated to the Sheriff Dept was used properly. He and Mr Banks did talk about their extensive accomplishments in law enforcement. Again, I am not speaking for them, just what I heard. I would hope that during any debates we all can ask the Mr Hoffman and Mr Steffens our own questions. For the record, I agree with post #55, unfortunately post #54 speaks volumes .
