There is a new dog rescue place at the old outlets at Kent Narrows, they are right next to ARF. They have boarding kennels there and they might be able to take him if you are desperate. They are opening next weekend I think, not sure. They are a dog rescue place. Just a thought. He is a good dog, at least that is the impression I got from the video I watched of him on Utube. The fact he did not bite that kid that was tormenting him was amazing.

bj, when I read about Rocco I just melted!! Having just gone through a terrible time with our dog I sat and thought about it long and hard and we just cannot manage him at the moment. He seems to be just a precious dog and from what I read on them, the breed is really super awesome. I wish I could take him with all of my heart! I have forwarded your message to just about everyone I can think of that might possibly be able to help him find a new and happy home.
I know it's not much, but it really is all I can do at the moment. Here's hoping someone will read about him and fall in love with him!!!

SafeTil, you're right...any other dog would likely have had issues...but baby chris is baby chris and equally as playful...and Roc has such a great demeanor Thx too, Speeder...i hear what your saying and i TRULY appreciate your thoughts and comments... I JUST WOULD I COULD, but no matter how I slice it, I can't seem to find a way to make this work in my own world (for those that know me, they know i'd change my life for anyone if that's what i needed to do, but...too long to explain...but...) NEED A GREAT HOME FOR THIS GREAT DOG...and i swear i'm gonna wring my niece and nephew-in-law's necks as soon as they both grow up and get the nerve to talk to me about this whole unraveling of their great family (they are 2 privileged kids, well, kids considering my age, but w/their own family, a gorgeous house, lots of grounds, etc etc...)...when will they appreciate things??? well, ranting now to get it out of my system, but i will be up all night again to try to decide how i can/continue Roc's life in my own world if i can! thx again safe & speeder!!!!!! more than you know! bj

I would take him in a heart beat...but unfortunately I have a dog aggressive Male GSD. But I can give you some suggestions. Call Chesapeake Vet... Dr. Hammer....Dr. Dahle....Dr. Rice....Dr. VanHorn....and see if they have any clients who have this type of dog. Not everyone can handle him...so it needs to be someone with a brain when it comes to this breed. Also call some Breeders...yes...Breeders....a good breeder may be able to help place the dog. And lastly...call Animal Control...tell them your problem...see if they know of anyone who Rescues this type of breed. I wish you luck...I can feel how upset you are in your words...He sounds so wonderful and you do not want some nut case to come get him that doesn't have a clue and then the dog ends up in Animal Control. Please update us if you find a home.
NOTE: If you want me to call all these places for you...I will. Just let me know.

Lots of people do not understand Mastiffs. They are very laid back dogs, just because they are big, they do not typically like to be outside and running around. Most mastiffs would much rather be inside with the family. They are gentle giants.

I'M GONNA FIND A WAY, my baby niece's 'ROC' should have been mine...i've just gotta figure out what to do and how to do it now... and i'll deal w/her and her hubby later, i just need a home for Roc!

That is wonderful news! I really hope that you can make it work. We have an American Mastiff and she is the most amazing and sweet dog. She is 165 pounds and her best friends are our 4 cats. She truly is a gentle giant. Good luck!

Rocco sounds like a very lucky dog to have you! oh you guys, don't give credit where it isn't due...i wish i could make all this right, and all of you (speeder, safetil, waterlady, and oh barb, and you mo...), it's been hard and so much bureacratic tape than you know...!!! do you guys know what's it's like - you, like me, would do anything to do the 'right thing' and you get tossed into garbage that states things like - - well, youre niece checked him in as a 'biter dog' we can't 'adopt him out' - well, they (your niece and your nephew in law never picked him up, we can't let him go) -then i get the, 'well, i'm coming to get him, have him ready'...and they tell me... THEY CAN NOT RELEASE HIM, i'm like 'why not, he's our family' they made it sound like when my niece made a 'mistake' (i suspect she didn't realize) that she didn't know the consequences re: Roc I CAN'T SEEM TO GET OUR ROC OUT OF DOGGY PRISON...they seem like the 'mean' well there...but when i learned that they hadn't even taken the rockster out for a run in a week...(and YES, I KNOW HE SHOUDN'T EVEN HAVE HAD TO BE THERE THAT LONG, BUT), he was, and they never ever ran him or took him out to play, i swear...SOMETHING'S NOT RIGHT HERE... i'm extremely charitable, children & animal causes first and foremost before arts and entertainment, and i would return back to them more than enough in the longrun i just want rocco to have a great home (and no one today there could confirm that he hadn't been put down) i'm literally crying as i write this, i don't know where the big kahuna is right now (perhaps he's in heaven w/my brumby, coco-monster, sami girl, brutus, mutly, and everyone before them) i keep looking at the stars tonight no knowing what tomorrow will bring while i've extended my stay up here in PA to get to NJ to get the Roc... i don't know, i'm rambling, i just don't know... thx again all that have read and speeder, safetil, waterlady, barb & mo...THANK YOU!!! There has to be someone that we can contact about this!! Some "official" or something...I cannot believe the horrid mess you are having to go through sweetie!!! They cannot tell you you can't adopt him out!!! That is just insane!!! I am....angry, sad, oh...and about a million other things at those people right now!!! I am sure you are in even more so than I am Bonnie, but THIS is one of the times I think the "adoption" people are TOTALLY off base! What organization did you say had him?
I am going to keep praying for you darlin...I know it's not much, but it's all I have at the moment. That....and a sneaking suspicion that something ISN'T right about it....
Please, please, let me know what I can do to help you.
*hugs*

Something has to be done about this and soon. I hope they did not kill this dog. I wish I knew the particulars because I would be on the phone causing a big stink. My stomach is in knots thinking about the fate of this wonderful dog.

justbayk - I hope everything is okay with Rocco. This story breaks my heart. What is wrong with the animal shelter place? It is kind of scary that they have the power to deem a dog unadoptable because he is listed as a "biter." In the right situation, any dog would bite. I would think terms like "aggressive" or "hostile" would be more than likely to make a dog unadoptable. I am sorry that you are going through this, and I am very sorry for Rocco. I hope that everything is okay, and will keep you both in my prayers.

Your niece and her ex should be ashamed of themselves; it's obvious they never had true feelings for that dog otherwise one of them would have taken the dog. They sound like very selfish people.
I hope you get Rocco he deserves a loving home and someone who cares about him.

How about calling the people that have him and telling them that your neice lied about him. You can say it was HIS dog and she just took him in and said that to be vindictive. Has he ever bitten anyone? Tell them that he would be leaving the state so they would not have to worry about it.

That's really, really mean, justbayk. People who are willing to hurt animals to hurt someone should never have access to animals. I hope their kid, at least, grows up with a healthier view of animals. And I really, really hope you can save this dog's life.

I would call and make threats or something, call a government official. safetil, i'm still beside myself... i tried, and yes, there should be some recourse, and when i threatened (subtly) legal action if the Roc was put down prematurely, all they told me ...in a voice mail, do not call us back, do not leave a voice msg, i you have anything further to say to us, email me (exec dir left her email addr) and said she'd forward my corres to her attorney, so, how's that or doing business and now my rocco's now in heaven, my heart is broken...
