Wondering why someone would dump two small dead deer at the end of Grollman Rd. by the water? Maybe they were too small?
Just curious - I know nothing about hunting. It just seemed strange to see them. If it had been just one - I'd think someone hit it. But it was two...

I would guess they were roadkill. If hunted you would either see a wound or they would be gutted prior to dumping.
Maybe they got hit in from of someone's house and they just wanted to get them our of there. Not sure.

I think we should switch to, oh, say, the May pole game, hopscotch, dominoes, jump rope.......too many games to choose from......

Someone should take them to the house at the other end of Grollman Rd. so the lady that takes care of hurt and wild animals can recycle them and put them to good use. She has lots of wild and domestic pets she cares for.

They did look gutted. Just seemed weird. I thought hunters kept the heads as trophies.

She has lots of wild and domestic pets she cares for. What's wrong with you?? How do you expect her to feed the animals she has? Local people have been taking roadkill to her for decades so she can feed the hurt and disabled wild animals she cares for. What would you rather do with the dead roadkill, leave it there to rot? Hats off to the woman who lives there. She devotes much of her time and her own money to care for injured wild animals.

Sorry GPSoff56days I thought you were kidding; I guess it's a good way to dispose of the remains.

They did look gutted. Just seemed weird. I thought hunters kept the heads as trophies. It doesn't make sense that a "hunter" would take the time to gut a deer and then dump it at the end of Grollmand rd.. In fact, if they were not going to use them why move them at all? I'm not picking on you guest, but I am beginning to see a lot of misunderstandings about hunting from folks who have only been indirectly exposed by the misledia.. It is very rare to find a "hunter" that does not use the game meat. Even if a hunter does not like venison, hunters themselves established a program called "Farmers and Hunters Feeding the Hungry". Hunters pay for meat processing directly or through donations and the meat is donated to charities. Second, I have seen mentioned a couple times the notion of hunters being "trophy" hunters and just cutting the head off deer and assuming the carcass is left to rot in the woods. I am not sure where this myth came from, but it certainly is not the case. Unless you are thinking about outlaws, criminals, and hooligans who are periodically caught shooting deer from vehicles and just cutting the antlers off. This does happen, but rest assured these outlaws are not hunters or sportsmen in any sense of the word. As someone mentioned above, it is most likely the deer you saw were killed by a vehicle. It is incredible how many deer are killed around these parts by vehicles. I am convinced there are more deer killed on KI by vehicles than hunters. Approximately 25,000 deer are killed annually by vehicles in MD according to estimates by the DNR. Best regards, BC
