I know that a lot of people have said that they had a bad experience at "R's" on here, so I waited a long time to try it. We went for lunch last weekend and what we both had was very good and the service was prompt and friendly. I had the beef soft tacos and for 10$ the 3 of them had a lot of shredded beef in them, plus cheese, rice, beans, tomato and lettuce on the side to be put in. They were really good. The misses had a Cuban sandwich and that was very good too. Nice lean (cut thick) ham and done just right. I'm looking forward to trying a dinner there now. It looks like they got the kinks out and we now have a really good Tex-Mex / fusion place here.

Wow! Glad to hear you had a good time!! Did you read the review about them in the new Eastern Shore Magazine? The critic seemed impressed as well. I sorta read it peeking between my fingers, but when I saw it was a good review I was wondering if anyone here had re-tried it.

Ok, I gave Rs another chance, and sadly I must say, we will not return.
The food was mediocre at best. The service was mediocre.
If I am going to pay that much for whatever then you would expect the service and the food to be equal to the pricing. It is not.
I can't say for sure if it was the food or just a bug, but no more than 2 hours after eating, both my son and I were sicker than all get out.... We were fine till we had lunch....
That reason alone is enough for me to never return.

ordered some food from r's for hubby's b-day, and found that over this very weekend they had changed their menu and their chef. won't be posted on the web site until tomorrow or so. i won't go into the various disappointments--just wanted to mention it. on the plus side, the management was great in making things up to us, and the dish i had (shrimp fajitas) was very good--great-tasting shrimp. will wait a bit for a final verdict, but these developments are discouraging at the moment. i had really liked the restaurant, but now it's wait and see.

Darn! I was just getting ready to give the place a try. Some of the recent reviews have been OK. Guess I'll wait awhile and see what people think of the new menu.
On the plus side, the reviews weren't all that great. Maybe once the dust settles this will turn out to be a big step in the right direction. I hope so!

Well, we just returned from R's. we had come to expect certain menu items and there were certain items we liked. the menu has changed (previously noted) as did the chef (previously noted). Example of menu change: Flyin' Mayan Wings are now nothing more than a bad version of buffalo wings (no thanks, I'll go to buffalo for buffalo wings). The dish i had wanted is now off the menu. this is too new a restaurant to be changing hands and menu items so soon. R's has become nothing more than a pizza and sandwich joint with a southwestern name. Sad to say, we won't return to Rs.
P.S. Haven't ever seen a bad restaurant review in What's up Eastern Shore

R's is sub-par, at best. Their staff is poorly trained and the food is below average. The poor kids try hard but, again, the management is not training them properly. I think the owner should have stuck with clothing.

We gave R's a second try today after swearing we would never go there again. After reading of the changes made...I thought...it is worth a try. Well, the food had improved, a bit, but the service...NOT. It wasn't a busy time at all, so I can't make that excuse for them. First, (after an unreasonably long wait) the waitress brought out the wrong appetizer and when I told her that we hadn't ordered this...she looked at me and asked me, "are you sure"? LOL..I said, I am sure, but, if you want, we'll keep it, it looks good. She looked a tad bit confused and took it back. What seemed like an eternity later, the correct appetizer came out. By this time, we had eaten all of our chips and salsa. Wouldn't ya know it, we got the "build your own nachos" appetizer...which of course you need the "nacho chips"!!!! Pretty important ingredient. She said she would be back with more nacho chips....tic toc, tic toc.....etc. We started eating without the chips! (oh, and she forgot to bring plates for us to put our nachos on...never got those). Once our meal came....all went well, until we were JUST about done...and the waitress drops off two bowls of refried beans that she forgot to give us...and when I say.."dropped off", I mean as she walked by, without stopping...like drop and run....I really wanted another diet coke!!! Anyway...when she comes back...she drops off the check, and then asks, "Oh, did you want dessert?"...I shook my head...NO...thanks. Okay, it wasn't as disastrous as my first experience at R's, at least the food tasted good this time, but the service...still really needs to improve. I usually tip 20% or more, I round way up..but today..it was a solid 15%. ;D

We went to R's last night and we will not be going back. The burrito and the chimichanga were bland, no seasoning at all. For a mexican type place there was no spice in any of the food. The salsa was runny and very tangy. The chips were good. The kids chicken fingers rock but the mac and cheese on flat bread was really odd. Service was okay but it was not very busy in there. I think we will be sticking to On the Border from now on.

I have heard that R's has improved dramatically. Apparently they have resolved some of the food and service issues. I guess they just needed time to get the kinks out. I am going to give them a try. I think that it is important to support our local economy....
