Hi Everyone, I usually do not send these kind of emails out as I try to spare everyone from the hurt that goes along with rescuing animals. But I thought I would try one more time to help Buck as he really is a great sweet dog and so young. This email has gone out to multiple rescue groups but so far we have not had any offers. Can anyone please help Buck? (picture attached) His time is up in a day or two. He is at a shelter that can no longer keep him. He is a great guy! Does well with other dogs and cats too. Adores all people! The problem is he needs hip surgery. But.....the good news is the shelter will pay for the surgery. Buck just needs a rescue group to take him or he needs to find a home now! ARF is trying to get him out but needs a foster family to see him through his recovery of hip surgery. If you can help please call Caroline County Humane Society 410-820-1600 or call Animal Resource Foundation 410-643-8700 or email info@arfusa.org if you would like to foster. Also please don’t forget to vote today. Time is running out. We only have until October 31st. Please click on www.refresheverything.com/secondchanceforhomelesspets Please forward to your friends, post on facebook, etc…. You can also vote via texting each day. The number is 73774 and the text is 103141. ARF is also on Facebook. Go to www.facebook.com/pages/Chester-MD/Animal-Resource-Foundation/164439323570160. Thanks for all you do for the animals.

I just got off the phone with Lisa with the Caroline Veterinary Clinic in Ridgely, MD. They would be the ones doing Buck's hip surgery. Perhaps this information would be helpful to folks who may be interested in fostering/adopting Buck. The surgery, which would last about an hour, involves shaving off the head or ball of the hip (surgery is referred to as an FHO). Buck should be ready to be discharged the day after surgery. And by that time, he may already begin putting weight on the leg, but he will be able to walk out of the hospital on his own. Buck would need to be kept quiet, and in terms of rehabilitation, there are passive range of motion exercises that should be done a few times during the day. I work during the day, but Lisa said that the exercises could be done once in the morning and a couple of times in the evening. Within a month, Buck should be getting around fine. Whether Buck would require surgery on the other hip depends on how well he does after this surgery, that is, he may do so well that the other hip may not require surgery. FYI, Buck has been at the shelter since March. If you can help please reply to this email or call Animal Resource Foundation 410-643-8700.

Thank you everyone who may have emailed and called ARF since this posting. HOO RAH ! Buck has found a family to call his very own. He is now going to meet his 3 other soon to be siblings (dogs) , and if all goes well he will stay with this wonderful family. We have had responses from as far as Texas ! And were ready to drive this handsome boy there.
Thanks you everyone who supports all of our local rescue groups, and as a team looking out for saving and improving the lives of companion animals.
KIO friends of animals are the best !
