Looking to switch Primary Care Physicians. Unhappy with the current practice. Takes too long to get an appointment.
Anyone have recommendations, that aren't Maryland Primary Care?

Is that who took over Dr. Libbys place Funnel? I've been looking for one as well that isn't Maryland Primary Care.

Am I beginning to detect a common thread?? You hate to change Doctors, but I have begun to be annoyed by my Doctor spending more time messing with his laptop than the patient..

We use Dr. Malero in Centreville right across from the McDonalds. She left MD Primary Care a while back because of the way patients were treated (long waits, overscheduling, etc) She was familiar with our family history and made all the arrangements to have out records transferred. Very pleased.

I have been trying to get back with my former doctor (Dr. Bowyer) who also moved to Centreville...but when I called the office and told the girl that answered her phone that I was a former patient of hers....she abruptly informed me that the doctor was not accepting former patients. Wow....I miss Dr. B...but I don't think I miss that phone girl....

i just recently switched to MPCP & have no complaints... But i see a nurse practitioner which is all i really need for the most part. So i get in & out without long waits, etc. And, i like her... alot... she takes the time to talk to me, to see what's going on, to find out what's bothering me... i appreciate that & didn't get that with the old PCP after my doctor moved away... still miss my old doc, but he's at Duke, so... well that's not gonna happen!

We also go to Dr. Bowyer. She & Dr. Malaro started Centreville Family Medicine, which is part of the Anne Arundel Physicians Group. Their number is 410-758-3303.

speeder, I'm not sure why they told you that. I was a former patient of hers when she was with MD Primary Care.

Dr. Wilkerson and his staff are great; the only complaint I have is that he does have limited office hours--he splits his time between here and an office on the Western shore. But I've always been able to get an appointment when I needed one and usually the wait time is under 20 minutes.

baglady...I'm not sure either....but I have been very upset...I searched high and low for her (MPCP sure wasn't coming up off her info) and finally found her...only to be turned away so rudely

I had actually switched from the KI office to the Annapolis office, which was fine for a couple of years. Now can't get in for an appointment for 2 weeks, for any doctor not just mine. SG, I'll bet that is a MPC thing. They don't want former doctors stealing patients.

Dr. Malaro is the BEST!! I followed her from MPC to her new place in Centreville. Centreville Family Medicine. I had no problem with moving my patient info from MPC to her when they moved.

Speedergurl, like Baglady my wife was a former patient of Dr. Bowyer at MPC, and had no problem going back to her when we found out about her office in Centreville. I also switched from MPC to Dr. Bowyer myself within the last year, after I saw the difference in care my wife was getting.

without getting into anything personal, of course, can you elaborate on the differences?

We just switched to Johns Hopkins Community Physicians (Dr Kantrowitz), she was delightful to my children and answered all my questions and I felt comfortable. I can only say my experience at Maryland Primary care for many many years was poor. I loved my Dr but the greeting when you come in was awful. First off the ladies behind the desk yell your name across the office " Are you still living at 123 Any Street USA" and you look around and shrug your shoulders " yes".
Then they scream for the next patient "Mr So and So are you still experiencing exploding Diarrhea"? As the man shrinks in his chair and everyone tries to pretend they didn't just hear that.
I am so happy to not have to deal with them anymore.

I also switched from MPC to Dr. Bowyer myself within the last year, after I saw the difference in care my wife was getting. I know what you mean dej...Dr. B always had time to sit and talk to you like you were an actual PERSON. She didn't just walk in, look at you for 5 minutes and treat you like you were some clueless simp. She and I often discussed what I felt should happen with my health care issues and she even asked my opinions of different things about my treatment. I miss her something terrible and am going to try again to get in to see her. She was also my DH's grandmother's physician and she and I had a wonderful caregiver/physician rapport. She even gave me her home phone number in case there was an emergency with Grandma and no one was in the office! I always felt she truly CARED about her patients...not just wanted to herd as many in and out for their co-pays as she could....THAT is a HUGE difference to me. One that is well worth a 10 minute drive to Centreville.
