Below is from last week's Record Observer. It was scheduled for last Saturday but didn't it rain pretty hard? Not sure if it rained up there in the morning or not to postpone to this Saturday.
Apil 16 - EASTER EGG HUNT Annual Centreville Lions Club Easter egg hunt, 10 a.m., Millstream Park. Children to ages infant to 12 invited. Free. Rain date: April 23 at 10 a.m.

You know in PG county around the College Park area they no longer call it an Easter Egg Hunt. This year I noticed all the signs posted were calling it a "Spring Egg Hunt". I thought that was kind of odd so I googled it and alot of places are not even calling them eggs... they have been renamed to, "Spring Spheres". Ill always know it as an Easter egg hunt with Easter eggs.

^ That makes me laugh. I have to assume they renamed it to be non-christian. Very Ironic indeed. Ignorance breeds more ignorance.
The White House Easter Egg Roll is on Monday. I don't know how to get tickets, or even if they can be had at this late a date.

Nope it's the Sphere-Enhanced-Ear-Length-Tooth-Over-Endowed-Anti-Carrot-Non-Walking-Rodent-of-Non-Specific-Fur-Length-or-Pigment or the SEELTOEACNWRNSFLP for short.
God Forbid Christians actually get an actual holiday to celebrate.....I mean after all...where's the Religious Freedom in THAT?
(Not that I think eggs and chocolate bunnies have one single solitary thing to do with Easter....I'm just sayin')
People have been "uncomfortable" with this holiday for a LONG time (thus the bunnies and stupid eggs)....sorry folks, celebrate your Ramadan, Passover, Kwanza, Eid-al-fitir and WHATEVER - and enjoy yourselves unfettered and unobstructed with my sincere wish for happiness to you as you do and my complete support for your right to celebrate it.... but leave my Easter ALONE.
Easter, for me is the DEFINING Christian holiday...I wish we could celebrate it as such. With all of my heart...I really do.

That is what I found ironic. The rabbits and eggs, as symbols used for the spring holiday, predate Christianity in Europe. They have nothing to do with the resurrection of Christ. They just got included, I guess, for tradition's sake.
I don't know why anyone would want to rename them in the spirit of religious (in)tolerance.

It's no secret that the egg & rabbits are actually pagan symbols of fertility and have absolutely nothing to do with the resurrection of Jesus Christ. The Christmas tree as well as the date of December 25th are also firmly rooted in pagan symbology that are now included as a commonly accepted Christian holiday..the Roman Catholic Church "over-wrote" many pagan traditions with Christian ones....the whole "to the victor go the spoils" mentality thing...the thing that bothers me about the commercialization and Political Correcting of Easter to make it..."less offensive" to non-Christians...is the simple fact that Easter is the defining holiday specifically FOR Christians....without it we would just be fans of a great prophet.....if Easter offends you....don't celebrate it.. if you are a non-Christian..don't celebrate it....but as we are told REPEATEDLY we must do by law for all other religions and their celebrations.....RESPECT at LEAST our right to observe it as we see fit. I cannot begin to imagine observing a holiday I don't believe in...equally I cannot imagine expecting those that do to alter its' elements to suit me or any one else. Can you imagine the insult and outrage if Christians began displaying a menorah during Hannuakah and calling it "Happy Joy Candle Fun Party Days" ? I find even that thought completely disgusting. I am not a "thumper" ....but enough is enough.

Hah! I like your idea for Happy Joy Candle Fun Party. My wife's side of the family is Jewish. Hannuakah sucks. The gifts are spread out, so they are all sucky, and it is always the same story about a frugal lamp that used 1/8th less oil.

Like Lewis Black says.....(and I paraphrase shamelessly):....."it's a TOP" Forgive the early sermon Happy Easter tomorrow for those who celebrate and for those who do not- Happy Day Before Monday
