13 Female Guards Indicted For Smuggling Drugs & Phones; 4 Impregnated By Same Inmate BALTIMORE (WJZ)— A major gang bust is made inside Baltimore City’s jail system. It was a brazen scheme to smuggle drugs and cell phones into Baltimore jails. More than two dozen people face federal charges, including corrections officers, some of whom got pregnant by the same inmate. Rochelle Ritchie has more on the case involving the notorious Black Guerilla Family gang. It’s a jailhouse soap opera involving drugs, sex and money between corrections officers and inmates. The operation was brought down by tapped cell phones. Twenty-five people now face federal charges after being part of one of the largest gang-operated criminal enterprises seen at the Baltimore City Detention Center. “These 25 defendants participated in running the activities of the Black Guerilla Family from behind bars in Baltimore City,” said Rod Rosenstein, U.S. Attorney. Thirteen female corrections officers, seven inmates and five alleged co-conspirators are charged with racketeering, money laundering and possession with the intent to distribute. Officials say all 13 have been suspended without pay and the department is moving to fire them. baltimore.cbslocal.com/2013/04/23/25-correctional-officers-inmates-indicted-for-gang-activity-in-baltimore-jails/MY OUR DOLLARS FUNDED THIS AND THE BOSTON BOMBERS!

whoever is directly in charge will most certainly be sure to still be on the State payroll. After all, it's government! No one gets fired, demoted, suspended, etc. They may get reassigned pending an investigation but it's always with pay. Then they get transferred and still stay in the system but somewhere else and then those investigating or following an issue forget about it. After all if they were fired, then there would be accountability somewhere and no one wants that especially if you are in government. Don't rock the boat and everyone is fine.
Remember the GSA guy in the hot tub with two glasses of wine? Barrack to the rescue to a government employee wrongfully victimized. From a March 13, 2013 news story:
"The General Services Administration was ordered this week to reinstate a senior executive who lost his job last year amid revelations of lavish spending at a Las Vegas conference. GSA officials had told Paul Prouty that he “knew or should have known about the questionable and excessive expenditures” that embarrassed the Obama administration when they were revealed last year. But the agency failed to prove that the career civil servant in charge of federal buildings in the Rocky Mountain region was guilty of misconduct, the Merit Systems Protection Board ruled."
....government at it's best....to protect government employees.....

corrections officers at the Baltimore City Detention Center were preparing for a middle-of-the-night search of jail cells, aimed at rooting out drugs, cellphones, weapons and any other contraband inmates had stashed away. But the officers weren’t the only ones getting ready. Hours before the planned checks in January, an FBI affidavit says, word reached Tavon White, an inmate who prosecutors say reigned as the jailhouse leader of a violent gang called the Black Guerrilla Family. White’s alleged tipster, according to court records: a corrections officer at the jail. Check out the link! Really enjoy this!

Two things really bother me about this. One is that they think that letting females guard males or males guarding females is a good idea.
The second thing is how long they let this go on before the feds got involved. The articles say that 4 children were produced as a result of this arrangement.
A bunch of management people had to know about this and did nothing. A bunch of them should be seeking other employment as well as face criminal charges.
I could understand this in a 3rd world country but I am embarrassed that it could happen in this country.

That spins so much I had to sit down for fear of falling over. Is not this an indictment on this leadership? An the kicker is he is standing by the man that allowed all this to go on. I have a feeling we will be seeing a reality show in Maryland's future.
