Saw a Van, followed by 12 police cars heading towards Love Point this morning at 4:30 on their way to a raid. Anyone got the scoop?

Probably was the raid on Davol Rd. We live right across the street from a rental property (a rental as of June when the former owners sold it to a management company). All of us on the street have been concerned all summer that the renters have been dealing drugs out of there. Nothing but cars pulling in and out all hours of the day and night, loud fights, cursing and all sorts of things that have all residents concerned. Rumor is one of the guys living there was involved in that shooting in Grasonville a few weeks ago and that he is a member of a gang. Looks like they have moved out or have since been evicted (good riddance)! Now my question is how can we insure this doesn't happen again, by that I mean is there some sort of screening process this realtor could use that keeps these sorts of people out of our neighborhood??

You can do all the screening possible....however it doesnt always work. I had renters with great finances, jobs, history, etc that ended up being a nightmare....Its a game.

When I used to be a rental manager I would go to the prospects 2nd previous address to get the truth. If they were trouble the current landlord would say anything to get rid of them.

Being lucky with a renter is like Forrest Gumps box of chocolates... you never know what you are going to get..
I completely remodeled a house once for a cousin, new flooring, new paint, new appliances, etc.. She inherited the house from her deceased parents (my Aunt and Uncle). The guy who moved in was married with two children and a long time employee at a local high tech industry.
My Cousin got the security deposit and the first months rent. That was all. She pestered them for months for rent and always got the "check is in the mail" line.. finally after about 7 months they moved out in the middle of the night. That was fine, but they took the draperies and curtain rods, the washing machine (left the dryer in the driveway, guess they did not have room), and the house was virtually destroyed by dogs. Unbelievable!!
She never rented again. I went back in and restored the property and she sold it.
Some people are just trash.

A guy I work with rents properties in downtown Frederick. He does a credit check, criminal background and checks references. For Credit he won't rent to someone with a credit score of less than 750. He's got several properties and never had an issue.
