Maybe this pub will have a jazz brunch or feature jazz in some other way. It would be great to hear some of America's original music, but even if the owners decide to have entertainment, something tells me it'll be country, "acoustic," classic rock, or Jimmy Buffett. Not that there's anything wrong with that, but there are a lot of talented players on the island--and a lot of active listeners--who might appreciate having a place to play or listen without going to Annapolis or DC.

I would love a jazz bar. Not the Kenny G stuff, but real jazz. Blues too. Unfortunately the local live stuff is usually acoustic Jack Johnson stuff, classic rock stalwarts, or country. I don't mind classic rock (just tired of a lot of it), but how anyone could like country is puzzling to me. Just my opinion.

Doesn't Rams Head do the micro brew thing? And I would not frequent a Steeler bar and would never step into a Yankee bar! Because you are a shallow and narrow minded individual. Just how much does a team pay you? Surprised to hear that kind of talk from someone who goes by "oriolesfan" - did they pay you to advertise for them I simply asked the question of whether they were related to the Pour House in DC. I choose not to go to establishments that support certain teams. I choose not to go to establishments that aren't convenient, or charge too much, or have poor quality food, or attract customers I might not want to be around. So what is shallow or narrow minded about that? People choose to go to or not go to bars and restaurants for all sorts of reasons.

Ambiance and decor are a huge part of why people go to certain restaurants and avoid others. There's nothing shallow or narrow minded about that. It's a non-issue anyways since they aren't going to be a Steelers bar.

I simply said its narrow minded to not go to a place that supports a team.
You have your opinion and I have mine.

So it has a Steelers banner on the wall but the people inside are great and food and service is also
You don't go because of a banner or poster?

It's your wedding anniversary and your wife wants to go to dinner and celebrate. You take her to hole in the wall R and R Taqueria in Jessup and eat in the gas station. They have some of the best authentic Mexican food you'll find and they're incredibly nice. Is your wife narrow minded and shallow when she complains?

Could this discussion be any shallower, at the least? Good grief.

Is this really such a big deal? If you don't like dimly lit places, you probably wouldn't go to big bats. If you don't like sitting by the water, you probably wouldn't go to The Jetty. Etc... It's not always just about the food. There's a reason restaurants and bars spend as much as they do on decor. It's fine that you disagree with that, it's the "shallow and narrow minded" nonsense that I take issue with.

If it has a decent selection with good food I'm sure we'll frequent it.

While I am enjoying the mind-boggling and hilarious sidebar discussion on anniversary dinners at gas stations, I wanted to bring the discussion back to Pour House Pub. I am very encouraged to see their Facebook page asking the community their opinion on things. That's something that the previous few owners did not seem particularly concerned with.

I'm not much of beer person but hubby is so we like the idea of a Pour House Pub. That being said I would definitely avoid it if it's a Steelers bar. But I'd love to go to a funky gas station eatery (assuming the food was good) for my anniversary.

Yea, it seems like they're doing a great job trying to get the community involved. That's exactly what they need to do considering their location. I really hope it works out for them. I love craft beer so I'm sure we'll be spending some evenings there.

They're at the corner of route 1 and 175 in Jessup, about 2 minutes from Columbia. They literally share space with a gas station but there is almost always a line out the door. Their food is great and it's relatively cheap. They were on "Diners, Drive Ins, and Dives" on the food network. I recommend Tacos Al Pastor or the Carne En Pasilla platter.

Great place, but I was surprised to find that it is essentially a carry-out place. Yes, there are four stools and a counter, but with a line out the door you have to be very quick or lucky to get one of them. I don't remember what I had the few times that I've been there but I will be going back.

The best part about R&R is that it is about 5 minutes from my office in Columbia. Love that place.

We will definitely be checking this place out. It will be nice to have a selection of microbrew beer without going across the bridge or down to Easton.

I swung by here today and it looks like they are gutting the inside pretty good. I would suspect this will look much different when they are done.
