Much better quality than the DD in Easton. Field of Heather has good donuts. Is anyone familiar with a donut/ breakfast shop over in Cape St. Clare? I heard there was a good place over there but not sure exact location.

I'm thinking they will do good there with the improved RT 50 viz. I'm glad they because sometimes people would backup RT18 queuing for the drive thru. Can't say I have ever been there. I can brew a weeks worth of my own swill for the cost of a cup there.

But dd has crullers, and who knows where bay hills shopping center is. I just couldn't help but chuckle at this. Maybe it was a tongue in check thing, maybe serious about 'Who knows where Bay Hills SC is'. The reason for my chuckles is this.....I read about all those pro/cons of living here & local vs box establishments. Dress appropriate attire vs boots & jeans & now Cheap vs Redneck. I moved here to the island from Arnold 13 yrs ago. I did so for the more laid back lifestyle. I use our local establishments when they have what I'm in need of then I got west. I like the less insane pace. I get a bit crazy when folks complain about NOT having this or that & how we NEED to have 'IT' here. My point is if you don't like the way the island is then move back over to the other side of the bridge. You wont have to worry about not being able to get what you want here. You'll be 'there'. The funny part of the quote is the part about 'where is....' I have lived all over the world & I think nothing of going to Philly for a cheese steak or pretzel or to NYC for some good corn beef or to Chicago for 24hrs for a sporting event so I thought it funny anyone wouldn't know where Bay Hills Shopping Center is when its 1/2 mile off the main highway. NOW BEFORE SOME ONE GETS ALL NUTS AT THAT STATEMENT...let me clarify....it's part of the island life, IMHO, that folks love living here & don't need to go anywhere else to find what they are looking for so it would make sense not to know Bay Hills. I love it here & I'm glad I moved here & sorry I didn't do it sooner. Yes I get frustrated some times about not having everything I'm looking for but let me tell you how many times Ive gone to the west side & still couldn't find an item. We can't stop progress here on the island so I will just enjoy the lifestyle. The main thing that makes me nuts are all of the huge signs for this person or that for election. They make an area look trashy but that's anywhere. I'm happy to call the Isle of Kent my home...it's the people here (most of them anyway) that make it great.

If you can't find what you are looking for on the island, check out the internet. I see UPS and FedEx trucks on the island all the time! Let them pay the tolls!

My last attempt to buy a donut went like so: Pull up to drive in speaker. Was told to "wait a minute" DD employee is outside talking to someone in a van in front of the window. 5 minutes goes by...... We reversed out and left. DD is a little too much on "island time"

Gee, Sharon, really? Maybe when you lived in Arnold that was one of the places you learned about and went shopping. I've lived here much, much longer than you, and of course know where bay hills is, but not the shopping center. Why would I? It's just an exit on the way to pg and Montgomery counties, and dc, and if I shopped off the island it was generally in Annapolis or pg and montgomery counties or dc, because these were places I worked, etc. When one is driving home for 60 miles from Rockville, one doesn't have the time or inclination or information to get off fifty to explore. In all my years, I've never had anyone mention bay hills sc to me. How would I even know it was there, especially when I may know bunches of places you never heard of? It has nothing to do with, as you seem to imply, being to disinterested or insular or anything else to learn about every little shopping center somehow...how?...on the way to and from work.

Instead of quality like a Wegman's or Whole foods....folks seem to be content with having crappy fast food establishments litter the island. The island is becoming Glen Burnie South due to isolationism. Really? We need another McDonalds or Dunkin Donuts or Burger King? Ive seen less fast food joints in the Ghetto.

We had a Heavenly Donut for a short while at Red Apple Plaza. Their donuts were so warm and fresh they would collapse in your fingers. They made killer steak and egg subs and they even delivered. They didn’t last long. Then we had Krispy Kreme delivering to Shore Stop. That didn’t last long either. Maybe it’s the coffee that makes Dunkin Donut thrive, or the drive-thru service. I’m betting it’s the access to Rt. 50. We have McDonalds, Burger King, Hardee’s, Cracker Barrel, KFC and Taco Bell, etc. because of Rt. 50 not because we are becoming Glen Burnie. They don’t really litter Kent Island as they are all located along Rt. 50. Why? Because without the transients, the trucking and tourist traffic they would probably fold. You should see fewer fast food stores in the Ghetto because like Kent Island they don’t have the base to support most businesses that depend on high volume. I don’t think that some folks realize how much of what we do have is only due to tourism, fishing, boating, hunting and transients moving along Rt. 50, not the local population. I guess if Kent Island has too many fast food joints you could just move back to the ghetto! Dunkin Donut is ok with me. I don’t eat too many donuts these days but I do like the drive-thru coffee. Too bad you won’t be able to get near the place in the summer. If anything I’d like to see the Amish Market come back to the shore.

Last I checked we don't have a New York Fried Chicken, a White Castle or a Church's Chicken. Until then, I think we can refrain from even uttering the word "ghetto" and Kent Island in the same sentence . Personally, I think Whole Foods smells like crap (even worse than our old Acme). I like Wegman's and find their prices to be reasonable. On my few trips to a Whole Foods, I've found them to be way overpriced and their customers to be a bunch of twits.
