Looking for info; Has anyone had this done? If so who did you use. I've been given a quote of 17k for 480 sq ft.

Get another estimate or 3. That number is way too high.
I just had this done last year, about 900-1,000sf and it was nowhere near 17k. That sounds ridiculously high unless there is a buttload of additional work to be done that you're not mentioning. I did get a quote from Service Master that was twice as much as I ended up paying for everything, only for the remediation. Twice as much for half the work. I had MasterKleen in Centreville do the remediation/removal of insulation and insulating the band boards. GMD Construction did the encapsulation and installed a radon system.
I hope this helps.

Mine was done 7 years ago and was 10K. I used basement systems to do it. 1000 sqft or there about. There was a good bit of clean up needed.

Crawl space enclosure is an interesting term. Is your house on block piers and you are having the remaining block and footings installed around the perimeter of the house? Alot of older houses on the island are built like this. Can you elaborate on what you are actually having done?

Thanks for the info.I just notice I had said 480 sq ft ( I wish) it is 4800 sq ft. Yea i know big mistake. I am getting other quotes, my crawl spaces is not bad. I have 3' of height and there is gravel down, my issue is that musty smell that happens when it gets damp . I don't have standing water and I don't believe I need a de-humidified. I looking to have the entire area Encapsulation.

I've read that the biggest mistake being made today for crawl spaces is the installation of insulation between the floor joists. All it does is promote moisture and mold which is why this stuff starts hanging down in pieces all over the place after a while. I have plastic covering the entire area of my crawl space floor and there is only one spot that has water accumulate when we get heavy rains which is drained by my sump pump. I've read to remove all insulation and insulate the perimeter at the band boards. Plus, seal or cover all those vents. They, too, bring in moisture. That is all you need down there.

insulation does not promote moisture, it can hold moisture but the moisture is there regardless. If the moisture is above a certain level it will lead to mold. Controlling the moisture is the main problem that needs to be fixed. Make sure to check where the sewer vent pipe is exiting through the foundation wall (crawl space wall). We discovered they made a 7" hole in the cinder block to put the 4" pipe through, rain/ground water would seep in at this location. 17k is way out of line.

I just had my crawl space air sealed and encapsulated which included the spray foam insulation on the interior crawl space walls. They also air sealed my attic and all the ventilation ducts and added blown in insulation to the attic. I used Total Home Performance out of Easton. The total price was originally around $7500.00 but I will get $2000 back from Delmarva Power due to energy saving rebates they offer. I was very happy with their customer service and quality of work. It may be worth your while to give them a call.

Highest recommendations! for " Indoor Pollution Solutions " Paul McGinley 410-673-1700
In the process of selling our home mold & standing water, and sump pump issues were found in our crawl space during the home inspection. Called several companies for a fix and price quote. The 1st company (a recommendation on here "MK")came out, looked, said he would email us a quote that night,nothing, next day we called him - said he was sorry would get the quote to us in a couple hours,nothing, we called back late afternoon he said he'd have it to by 9pm,nothing...we didn't call back! This was a $6800+ job and no response! 3 other companies came out and did give estimates;
Paul was the only one who actually found where the excess water was coming in - He got the job.
He and his workers arrived on time each day! they got done what they said would get done on that day! I was checking the progress at the end of each day and their work was professional top quality and done right!
I'm sure they're other good local companies out there, but here is one that you can count on.

Jake, Did you get your $2,000 rebate from Delmarva Power for having the work done with your contractor? I didn't see them on Delmarva Power's approved contractor list. Also if you did how long did it take to get it back, I've been told 6 - 8 weeks for my rebate check.
