On my motorcycle I ride with passing and headlight on all the time, although when high beams go on passing lights turn off. I am even adding led lights to it to been seen even more. As someone said earlier, lights are to be see with and to be seen.

No fog lights are not high beams!!!! In fact when high beams go on fog lights automatically go off, on my truck and Motorcycle. So not inconsiderate. Clearly you've never driven in front of someone with fog lights on.... They are very annoying. Fog light are to be used for fog, that's why they are called FOG LIGHTS.

Fog lights are designed to emit a low, wide beam of light. They are meant to illuminate the road below the fog, rain, or snow. They should never be in the eyes of an oncoming car, unless they are mounted in the grill of a jacked-up truck. Then they are annoying.

I don't understand, how are they annoying? They are lower than normal head lights. If fog lights annoy you then I can only imagine how you feel driving at night when EVERYONE has their normal lights on.

Well when my head lights are on my parking lights also turn on and I am not parking?? I am thinking you are confusing fog lights to high beams. There is no way regular fog lights shine enough to affect a driver in front of them. They shine lower and shorter distance then the regular head lights.

Wow, who would have thought there would be such a conversation about what fog lights mean. This is great

Just as there's apparently no way to teach some folks that HIGH BEAMS are not FOG LIGHTS. They are as different as night and day. All Modern cars have high beams, MOST cars ever made do NOT have Fog lights. What bothers other drivers are HIGH BEAMS. There's no way for fog lights to bother anyone, except the folks that don't know the difference. Ignorance is bliss.

If the fog lights are adjusted downward there should be no problem, however, if it is on a tall vehicle, like many pickup trucks, they can still cause issues to people in front of them, especially if the driver is tailgating. I have not seen any vehicle that has fog lights that does not have the means to turn them off. When there is no fog they are not needed and it is simply discourteous to leave them on. If you need them to see the road close up, then maybe your headlights are focused too high to begin with.

I also know that it is illegal in some states to use both high beams and fog lights at the same time for a reason. I'm not ignorant, I just hate inconsiderate people.

Neither of you have explained exactly how fog lights are annoying. They are less noticeable than normal headlights, and if normal headlights annoy you then I don't know how you manage driving at all, especially at night.
So you're annoyed by a truck with abnormally high fog lights tailgating you, or someone that has replaced their fog lights with brighter lights and angled them to look like high beams? Ok... so not a normal car with fog lights. Neither of these circumstances are the norm. I wish I only had such trivial things bothering me.

For years, manufacturers made cars with daytime running lights. Your headlights were always on when the car was in gear. Motorcycles are still designed that way. Many roads including the Bay Bridge require lights on. I don't see the big deal.

There is just no need to have them on at night when there is no fog, and the additional glare causes hardship in oncoming drivers. The older one gets the more the glare becomes an issue. If you can't understand that because you are too young then ask an older friend.
