Is there anyone out there that is reasonable to replace a hot water heater?

I would think if it is an apple to apple replacement somewhere between $80 - $120 in labor not counting the HWH

If it is an easy installation almost any handyman can to it. If it is not leaking and very old you can fix it yourself. Mine went supper nova a while ago and I used the internet and a multi-meter to figure it was a $10 lower thermostat.

I bought mine from Lowes in Bowie. List price $513, scratch and dent special - $100. Installed it in about an hour. It's in the garage. The small dent in the top doesn't bother me a bit, and doesn't affect performance at all.

Take the old one to Baker in Queenstown and get cash for recycling it (I think I got $30, if I recall). If you don't want to do the install yourself, Palmer Plumbing (recommended frequently on this forum -- just search) is a good option.

Palmer Plumbing did mine and I was happy. Also drain it yourself and save about an hour on the labor.

It is crazy the crap you can take to Baker's and get money for. Take the old one to Baker in Queenstown and get cash for recycling it (I think I got $30, if I recall). This Baker's place sounds very interesting...Can anyone fill me in on where they are in Queenstown and what it is they do?

Thanks everyone for your imput! I ended up ( I hope I don't regret it) going with a hybrid electric HW Heater.. Lowes have them for $999 and got 10% off applying for a credit card so it's $899, Delmarva Power is giving a $500 rebate and i get a federal tax credit of $300. I read some reviews where people said their electric bill went down $50/Month (which I'd love to see) And with taking the old one to Bakers, I figured I had to at least take the chance!

cranky64, I got the GE GeoSpring 50-Gallon 10-Year Hybrid Water Heater (Lowes Item [HASH]665053). We installed it yesterday and so far so good. I'll keep an eye on the electric bill to see how it changes. The icing on the cake: I went on Delmarva's website to find out more information on the rebate and it ends up that I am also eligible for another $150 for the washer ($100) and dryer ($50) I purchased recently. So that was like finding money that you didn't know you had

I think the federal tax credit for $300 sunsetted on December 31, 201, I cannot find any info on if it was extended.
