The Toyota's driver, 25-year-old Richard Allen Shedobsky, was flown to Shock Trauma, police said. He has been treated and released, officials said.
Shebovsky was the sole occupant of the Toyota. Investigators believe alcohol was a contributing factor in the collision. There has been no determination of vehicle speed at this time.
Due to the severity of the crash, troopers closed eastbound U.S. 50 in the area of the Kent Narrows Bridge. The road was closed for several hours. State Highway Administration personnel assisted with road closures.
Anyone who may have witnessed this crash is asked to contact the Maryland State Police Centreville Barrack at 410-758-1101.

The guy has 20 traffic charges stemming from 9 incents over the past 5 years. It would appear that the system failed these to people.

Why was he treated and released? Shouldn't he have been arrested?

No Frank. MSP will do full investigation and charge for everything then when it's complete . Charging early risks double jeopardy and the whole case
Then the poor child will do a year maybe due to pathetic MD laws

A preventable accident at best. This maniac is a menace to the safety and welfare of the Public in general. Based on this man's arrest record alone, he was an accident waiting to commit the ultimate human tragedy.

Yeah, but they getting their seatbelt violators BIG TIME, aren't they?? Gotta keep that $$$ comin' in! "Tunis Mills resident Samantha McCall said she was driving on Route 50 east when Shebovsky's minivan flew by her at very high speed, and she got into the left lane to distance herself from it. Then before long, she saw Shebovsky make a big u-turn into traffic. "Next thing I knew he was driving directly at me," she said. She said she had no time to check before she switched lanes to get out of his way. "By the grace of God, no one was there when I swerved over," she said. "I just thought, this is going to end really badly." She said she pulled over and several other cars pulled over as well. "There were so many times when there could have been an accident before the accident happened, he was driving so recklessly," McCall said." www.stardem.com/easternshore/news/queen_annes_county/article_fefc41cd-856b-5bdb-82de-ad3ba81a61d7.html

Making a U-Turn and going the wrong way on the highway - sounds like pre-meditated murder - not an "accident".

Sad situation all the way around. The parents should have done more to help their son given his history as well as the courts. Either way, he is considered an adult and has to take responsibility for his actions. Just sad.

Someone like this starts to make you appreciate vigilante justice...

Courts are so involved in cutting deals, lessening sentences, and giving just one more chance, they put the public in danger. Look at the number of repeat offenders for serious crime. Criminals do 1/3 of their time and get out. Thery promise not to reoffend, and.......well....you know how that goes!

That’s quite strange that no charges have been framed. My sister works with a DUI lawyer and was telling me that this seems to be a pretty much open and shut case as no one in his senses would have taken a U-turn on freeway. Even she was amazed to find nothing on the record.
