We went to New Canton years ago and didn't care for it. The food was bad, the workers were unfriendly, etc. I heard from friends that it was good now, so we gave it a shot. Turns out that it's very good now! The menu is pretty standard Americanized Chinese Food, but what is on it is really good. The Sesame Chicken is fantastic - Good quality mean and it's done perfectly. Their dumplings are good, Wanton soup is good, and the egg-foo young is fantastic. On the specialties menu, the "Triple Crown", Lobster, Chicken, Beef, is very good. While there is only a small amount of lobster compared to the chicken and beef, it's very good.
If you haven't been to New Canton in a while, give it a try. You'll be pleasantly surprised.

I agree with you Rich. I went there with my son about 3 weeks ago and it was 100% better than the last time than I was there about 10 years ago. Sure, that was a long time to wait and it was different owners back then, but I had a good reason.
I have been going to Hong Kong at least 2-3 times per month for the last 10 years. They are skimping on the amount of meat/poultry that they put in their dishes. We were getting a whole lot of veggies instead. Now that I have had New Canton again, I will be taking a break from Hong Kong for a while. I love the people at HK and told them that I was disappointed FWIW.
Happy to have some decent Chinese here again.

My wife and I stopped going there several years ago when we saw one of the workers change a baby diaper on the table. It had been going downhill anyway, but changing a diaper in front of customers while the owners walked back and forth was disgusting, especially when you could smell it throughout the restaurant. We have been going to the Court of Shanghai West street in Annapolis. It looks like an old Ihop restaurant a little ways after West street crosses Rt 2. Family owned and always very good. Surprisingly, never very crowded. Might have to give Canton another try, but really not sure.
