And wasn't it mentioned, like last year, after that major bridge collapse, that something like 90% of the bridges in this country needed some major repair, if not total replacement? Repairing, and rebuilding our infrastructures would create plenty of jobs that can't be outsourced. Unless of course you're talking about Virginia, where they're currently building H.O.T. lanes, and the revenue will be collected by a foreign company, which has been hired to manage them!!

Thanks for responding without mentioning your love of Obama. Perhaps you can participate more often. However, I had to look into your cartoon. Again, what a crock! If you are reading cartoons to make your political choices, shame on you. Do a little more research. Clinton had a surplus because he took it from us. Me and YOU. All of the "fiscal conservatives" in your cartoon lowered taxes. Clinton taxed the hell out of us. Obama wants to tax the hell out of us and give it to those less fortunate. When that money runs out, he will raise taxes again. Sorry, not for me. That's not what I want to do with the money I work for. The Obama lovefest continues The following article is not from any far left or far right lunatics. It comes directly from the US Treasury www.ustreas.gov/education/fact-sheets/taxes/ustax.shtml

Reagan lowered taxes and started a war = Deficit
Bush 1 lowered taxes and started a war = Deficit
Bush 2 lowered taxes and started a war = Deficit
See a pattern?

I have claimed a love for his willingness to initiate change after 8 years of the same old same old. I will assume that your love of McCain, and YOUR posting of cartoons says alot for you also?

I have no love affair. None of the candidates thrill me. The constant bashing of McCain/Palin is so one sided by the media, it's hard to make an informed decision. Obama has spent a ton of money. Everytime I turn my computer, the banner says "Help elect Barack Obama president" Good grief, enough is enough! Let me make an informed decision without someone telling me "OMG, Did you know Sarah Palin helped plan the 9/11 attacks?" Just give me the facts, and leave all the bull$hit out of it.

Has anyone ever seen the reality show "Parking Wars" on late at night?
The show takes place in Philadelphia and has 3 segments to each show. The first part of the show is a segment on the Meter Readers, the second segment on the people who come around and put boots on the cars, and the third part of the show is how people try to get their cars out of the impound lot in Philly.
The first 2 segments are really a bit funny, but the third is funny because it just so absurd. The Government employees at the impound lot have people stand in long lines and then send them home or the end of the line for the most ridiculous reasons. The place was made into a reality show because it is so absurd. The producers have little clocks on the screen on different people and show how many hours they have been there and they also have a "frustration meter" they assign to everyone to display how frustrated everyone is.
If you have ever been to the DMV in Glen Burnie, just imagine a place 100 times worse. The employees (most of them) are rude, lazy, and ignorant to all of the rules. The cameras will record one employee saying one thing and telling a car owner to go somewhere else and then the cameras will record another employee telling the same car owner exactly the opposite. When the car owner says that is not what he was just told by the other person, the employee states "thats not my problem".
Am I saying that all Government employees everywhere are lazy, absolutely not. What I am saying is that the government shouldn't be in a lot of public/customer service fields. The Government in general isn't as efficient or productive in some fields (as private companies) due to their own red tape they have on everything and due to some employees feeling that there is no incentive to work harder or even to be nice.
In a private company if you are rude or lazy, you get fired. Also, Government Contractors have to be productive and nice because their evaluations and final product matter. Government Contractors have higher standards than many of the Government employees, because the Contractors are evaluated by the product they deliver to their customers. However, some Government employees in customer related fields have no desire or incentive to be nice, no desire to help anyone, no desire to fix what is broken, and feel that they have a right to be lazy and useless. It is so hard to fire a Tenured Government Employee; however, most Government Contractors can be terminated without cause.
I am not against anyone who works for the Government, I have many Government relations. My point is that the Government should not be involved in so many ways of everyone's daily lives. Yes you should follow the laws of the land, but you should not have, or want, the Government in every aspect of your life.
I brought up the show Parking Wars because that is a perfect example of what this country could become if we start moving in a Socialist direction with the Government in so many aspects of our lives.
Watch the show, Parking Wars, and imagine if we had that on Kent Island. If our Country turns to having socialized medicine, imagine what doctors offices, clinics, pharmacies, and hospitals would look like. I know what it would look like, it would look just like the show Parking Wars but in a different setting.
A city in New York banned all Trans Fat from restaurants. A town in California is considering a law that everyone needs to recycle and if they don't they could fine. The law would be that the Government can go through your trash and if they find any trash that should have been recycled they are allowed to write you a ticket. I'm all for recycling, but what if I accidentally throw something away that should have been recycled? Under that stupid law I would get a ticket.
I support our Government 100% but I strongly believe that our Government should not be a public service agency that has daily interactions in all aspect of citizens lives.
Watch the show Parking Wars, this is what our Country will become if we start "spreading the wealth", making the Government larger and increasing the Government's role in our daily lives.

Ironically, I received the following in an email today.
Subject: The Incredible Wisdom of Thomas Jefferson We're there.
When we get piled upon one another in large cities, as in Europe, we shall become as corrupt as Europe . Thomas Jefferson
The democracy will cease to exist when you take away from those who are willing to work and give to those who would not. Thomas Jefferson
It is incumbent on every generation to pay its own debts as it goes. A principle which if acted on would save one-half the wars of the world. Thomas Jefferson
I predict future happiness for Americans if they can prevent the government from wasting the labors of the people under the pretense of taking care of them. Thomas Jefferson
My reading of history convinces me that most bad government results from too much government. Thomas Jefferson No free man shall ever be debarred the use of arms. Thomas Jefferson
The strongest reason for the people to retain the right to keep and bear arms is, as a last resort, to protect themselves against tyranny in government. Thomas Jefferson
The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants. Thomas Jefferson To compel a man to subsidize with his taxes the propagation of ideas which he disbelieves and abhors is sinful and tyrannical. Thomas Jefferson
Very Interesting Quote: In light of the present financial crisis, it's interesting to read what Thomas Jefferson said in 1802: 'I believe that banking institutions are more dangerous to our liberties than standing armies. If the American people ever allow private banks to control the issue of their currency, first by inflation, then by deflation, the banks and corporations that will grow up around the banks will deprive the people of all property until their children wake-up homeless on the continent their fathers conquerd.

I agree with Pete (*gasp* lol j/k Pete), Lynn AND Frank (and Seq). Socialism is just around the corner. Spreading the wealth pisses me off...AND....I honestly like having a cop do private duty work. I DO NOT think the cop should get ON DUTY benefits for off duty work though. No one else in the private sector does so they shouldn't. Pete, I know you don't sweat the garbage some of these guests here throw....I agree with that too. Frank...YOU MEAN PETE WAS INVITED TO DINNER AND I WASN'T? *POUT* lol!!! ;D (pssst kl..it's himself.."hisself"...not a word darlin)

speedergurl68.............Your tax dollars should not be used to subsidize any private business. The power given to the cops belongs exclusively to the tax payers. You also have a conflict of interest problem when the cop is a security guard. Cops don't give each other tickets, or their part time employers, but they'll give you a ticket. If the cops shoots, or gets shot, the liability is paid for with your tax dollar.

The U.S. Government is now in the private banking business, the private real estate business, and the private security business. What's next? What's next? The gov't is in the Automotive industry, that's what.

Cops don't give each other tickets, or their part time employers,Now now Pete, not all police are like the city guys in the 60's and 70's. Now the police don't run to the local bar that they get their "shot of liquor for their sergeant while their working" from and get drunk in that bar right after every shift like they use to. Please don't judge the current police on a lot of your former traits. As usual you turn any subject on this website into a police mistrust, police hater thread, unbelievable.
