The U.S. Government is now in the private banking business, the private real estate business, and the private security business. What's next?

Pete, will you please stay still for one minute? You keep jumping from thread to thread creating chaos and evading questions. First the finger sniffing cops and then the two police officers in the parking lot of Matapeake. You start a thread, throw out some amazing accusations, offer no proof to them and quickly run away and start some far out new thread. I would like you to back up your scandalous statements with facts. I don't know who is more ridiculous, us members that respond to you, or you, the author of the posts. What do you do for fun in your spare time, incite riots?

Guest who is a member..........Read the news papers on the banking business......Check out the Supreme Courts decision on eminent domain, and what about all the real estate signs posted on government property........The cops are security guards for various large stores using the tax paid for uniform, police car, and the rest of their equipment. If anything goes down that involves an injury to the cop, or a customer, the the liability is paid for with your tax dollars........Tonight in my spare time I played guitar, and sang to the elderly at the Minkhill Convalescent Home on Collier Rd. in Grasonville for 1 1/2 hours....Do you have anymore complaints my friend? PS. Please give me an example of a far out thread that I started.

10-96 A police term, common in the Midwest, used to describe a person with mental delusions, commonly known as an "emotionally disturbed person." 2-David-13, report of a 10-96 male subject at 42 W. Main, running through traffic. Subject has several priors, manic depressive and suicidal.

ANCHORAGE, Alaska (AP) -- Gov. Sarah Palin charged the state for her children to travel with her, including to events where they were not invited, and later amended expense reports to specify that they were on official business. The charges included costs for hotel and commercial flights for three daughters to join Palin to watch their father in a snowmobile race, and a trip to New York, where the governor attended a five-hour conference and stayed with 17-year-old Bristol for five days and four nights in a luxury hotel.
In all, Palin has charged the state $21,012 for her three daughters' 64 one-way and 12 round-trip commercial flights since she took office in December 2006. She also has charged the state for hotel rooms for the girls.

PS. Please give me an example of a far out thread that I started. Pete, I agree with a lot of what you say. However, I don't care about the cops working extra hours during their off hours with their cars, etc. I figure an extra police vehicle is usually a good thing to have no matter where it is (usually deters criminal activity). With regards to the Socialist Society, I agree with your feelings, but unfortunately I don't think most people in the US agree. Many people are content with the government running almost all aspects of their lives, I'm not. I have no problem paying taxes, but what I have a real problem with is the notion that all of society must support all of the society and those who are less off give almost nothing. This is a country we live in not a church. When I'm in church, I give frequently to the various different mission programs, but I am not ordered to do so by anyone. Obama stated on public television that "we need to spread the wealth around". I don't want to spread my wealth around. I work hard for my money and I want to keep as much of it as I want. I will pay my fair share of taxes and I will give to charities when I see fit. I do give often to many charities, but to have the government "spreading my wealth" pisses me off. There are so many people out there that are robbing the government and tax payers out of money by stating that they "are in need" of services. Then we the tax payers support them. I will give examples of what I mean. I know a woman who works part-time at a library and doesn't make much. She receives Medicare, food stamps, and other social services because she doesn't make much money and her income is below the poverty line. So, is this woman really poor? Heck no! She has more money than I have. She doesn't want to work full time. She lives in a beautiful house and travels with her boyfriend to other countries on a frequent basis for luxury vacations. What the government either doesn't know about or doesn't care about is that she doesn't need the money and she doesn't work full time anywhere else because she doesn't need to and she doesn't want to because it will interfere with her vacations. I know an older man who retired from his one job and works on boats every summer. At the end of each summer, his job ends and he collects unemployment. He could find another job if he wanted, but he doesn't want to work. He stated that he likes to use the rest of the year to work on hobbies. When he first went to the Unemployment Office, the man working there asked him if he wanted another job and he said no. The government employee then instructed him on what he would have to do in order to receive his unemployment. He was told that he had to apply to 2 (I think he said) jobs per month and as long as he was looking for employment then he would receive the unemployment income. So what this man did was he applied for jobs that he knew nobody would ever hire him for. He didn't want to work, but yet wanted to be paid. I know of parents in PG County who receive free school lunches for their children, they are on welfare, receive subsidy allowance, free Medicare, and free food-stamps. These people show up and drop their kids off in a new Cadillac Escallade. They wear designer clothes, and have more gold on them then Mr. T. I have seen people in the grocery store using their food stamp cards for top of the line steaks and gourmet foods! What I have never once seen is someone using their food stamp card to buy anything generic. I hardly ever buy expensive meats and I buy generic whenever I can. I look for bargains and buy things on sale and with coupons. Yes, I take real offense to someone who has a food stamp card buying name brand items and expensive meats. So, because somebody else (us the taxpayers) is footing the bill they have the right to splurge on whatever they want?! Be prepared people, if Obama is elected he will do as he promised and "spread the wealth around" and we will have a socialist society. What is already a problem with the welfare and social service system will be 1000 times worse. People will say, why work, the government (and all the tax payers) will support me. I don't like McCain or Obama's bail outs. But what I am really afraid of is if Obama is elected he will do just as he promised and spread the wealth around. If he is elected that welfare wagon will be going up and down every street and people will be jumping on and saying "I don't want to work either" or "Why should I work when Joe here isn't working?" or "What I can work part-time now and still collect full time pay because the government will make up the difference?" To anyone who thinks Socialized medical care is a good idea, let me tell you why I feel it is not. A perfect example of Socialized medical care are the government run military hospitals. I can never say anything bad about the professionals who work at the hospitals, they are qualified and caring individuals. However the system as a whole is not very good. It has gotten better, but it still isn't good. Other than the military facility we now have another provider we can use if we are sick (so we have 2 choices). Whenever my children or I wanted to see a specialist at the hospital we had to wait a very long time. My husband had to wait over a year for lasic eye surgery at the government run military facility. What is the wait for the general public at a local ophthalmologist - 2 weeks? To get prescriptions filled, the medical facilities have huge waiting rooms and you take a number and wait and wait. Its not uncommon to see 50 people hanging around with their numbers to be called. Here at the CVS on Kent Island you can drop off a prescription and pick it up 5 minutes later. Again, I am not saying that the quality of care from the staff isn't good and I'm not saying that the staff doesn't care. What I am trying to get across is that not everything should be run by the government. I understand the importance of why we have government run military hospitals, but lets stop it there. We don't need all of the US and all of the citizens being regulated by a government run health system. Trust me you won't like it. I agree that it would be nice to give everyone health insurance, but we can't afford to do this as Obama has planned. One way or another, all of the costs of the plan will be passed down to the average tax payer. Your costs will go up, your waiting time to get an appointment will increase, and the providers will be overburdened so you will get less quality of care. Today, public hospitals ER department's are packed with individuals who are on public assistance and they use the ER as a place to go whenever they are sick. I don't know what the solution is, maybe more free clinics? Again, I don't mind helping those who are truly poor and I don't mind my tax money going to a public free clinic for the poor. What I don't want is a socialized health system with an entire country under control of a government run health system.

Lynn................I don't want my tax dollars subsidizing the security business, or any other private business. The Cops are making an extra buck while big business is saving a buck. You and I are footing the bill for the liability, and the equipment. Not to mention the conflict of interest problems that will occur. Cops should work for the citizens, and not the fat cat big business guys. You will not find an off duty Cop working at a corner grocery store in the ghetto, because the little man can't afford to pay $25.00 an hour for an off duty Cop........A Balto. Co. Sergeant was killed while working as a security guard at a jewelry store several years ago. His wife got the double indemnity insurance, receives his full salary for life, and numerous other perks. All at the taxpayers expense. The store where he was working pays nothing. If he were a brick layer on the side, and was killed while laying bricks, his family gets nothing from the tax payers.

Sorry Pete, I gotta disagree. I like the idea of having additional police around every corner, and the expense is minimal. Discouraging crime through police presence is an extremely effective deterent. Take home cars have a much longer lifespan than hotseat cars, hence saving the taxpayers money. Crooks don't like to see police cars. Additional police cars on the road without to the police department salaries makes great sense. In DC, police officers can buy a house for next to nothing in seedy neighborhoods just to add police presence. The thugs move to other areas, but they soon run out of places to go. Let a cop move onto my street. Make sure he has a car, and hopefully pack a pistol while mowing his lawn. Nobody would be racing up and down my street!

Sorry for the interuption, Pete, kl thinks his pro-Obama cartoons are appropriate regardless of the thread topic.
Pete, I believe the crime rate would be much higher without them around. The presense of a police cruiser is always a deterent to crime. I have worked in several municipalities where this has proven very effective. DC has very few take-home cars because most of the officers live outside the district. They also don't have enough cars to support this program. I think the crime rate goes up as the population goes up. Simple percentages, that's all.
