I think that the only problem with "The Spot" is simply the location. From where I live I am closer to Dunkin' Donuts, 7-11, Waterman Joe's, and soon Starbuck's going in Safeway. Honestly I just go with convenience and that's it. I'm not sure where you advertise, but I haven't seen anything. Maybe if you advertised daily specials that set The Spot apart from the other places, or like another poster said, had a TV in there with food (I'm not sure if you have food) and maybe even an accoustic guitar / band playing (weekends) I would go. The biggest thing is giving people a reason to drive past the other guys though and getting your name out there.

The coffee was fine; the wait was a bit much (5-10 minutes for two black coffees). The Spot needed "something" extra. It was more like a business park/office building deli closet than a place to go. No offense intended; I'd rather see the Spot do well than a chain place like DD or Starbucks... But it needs a little something as a draw. Decor especially, and news on TV would really help bring in people, I think. A good Wifi service would also help bring in the internet geeks... ("kettle, pot's on line 1").
OTOH, I know with your landlords the thoughts of spending anything more on the place must be a bit daunting... what did it cost you to fix their space for them to move in anyway? And are they giving tenants *any* timeline for when they're selling the property for the bulldozer and re-development?

My experience is that "The Spot" is MUCH faster than DD.
I was about to blast Dan for his plans to frequent Starbucks over a decent little local establishment, but I am guilty of getting my afternoon Latte fix from DD on Saturday afternoons. Unless I am on that side of the Island.
For the record, their is WiFi at The Spot.

Love Point Deli would be perfect for "The Spot". Even though I live in Grasonville, it would be nice to sit outside at the tables on a Sat/Sunday morning in warm weather, watching the cars go by or reading the paper. Probably big $$$$ though.

Yay! The new super-duper Safeway will have a soup bar, salad bar, sushi, olive bar, and wide isles. Oh yeah, Starbucks! Woo-hoo

Advertising on this website would be great exposure! We receive on average about 1000 new page requests each day and that does not include Forum reveiws and posts. Obviously there is quite a bit of traffic and our current advertisers seem very happy! E-mail myself or Rich for more info!
