Or how about a bridge filled out with folks driving their Segways?

Segways could be cool, but you might want to raise the guardrails a little

I'm sick of paying crazy amounts for gas in my car too. I'm currently in the process of looking for something that's a bit of everything... good on gas, comfortable, decent pick-up, and good in bad weather. Unfortunately I have the type of job that is both far away, and does not usually include snow days. Here's something I'm kinda leaning on getting so far - I saw it at the DC Car Show and liked it far more than I thought that I would: www.suzukisx4.com Whadda ya think?

Rich - not too bad looking -I'm trying to dump by Suburban and am interested in the '07 Honda CRV. If anyone knows someone looking for a '03 Suburban let me know.

I like the CRV too. The new Rav-4 is really nice as well. I'm going to keep my old SUV guzzler as a third car. It's pretty much not worth anything anyway, so I can use it when I need to carry something large, etc. It needs a paint job on both bumpers badly though. The paint is just falling off the plastic parts... I miss the big chrome bumpers!

The CRV and RAV4 both hold resale value very well. Not as well on the Suzuki. My wife and I looked at the RAV4 and couldn't find a used one anywhere for a reasonable price.

Segways was just an idea, but after thinking about it, it may not be too good of an idea. You're right with the higher guardrails, but what about those younger folks, and the Segway gangs that will soon form? ;-))
Rich..My daily roundtrip commute is 125 miles. Like you, I needed something great on gas, comfy to sit in and drive, and enjoyable to drive too. Had a Jetta Diesel that I drove for 4 years at 50 miles to the gallon. After I moved, and had a hard time finding a station that sold diesel, sold the Jetta, and bought one of the last 2006 VW Golfs that will be made. Getting 30+ miles to a gallon and a joy to drive.

I've had several "manly cars" - '69 GTO, '67 Impala, '71 Cougar with a 351 cu.in. Cleveland in it, etc. They were fun to play with, but to be honest with ya, I feel just as "manly" driving my Honda and getting 25 miles to the gallon.

Rich, have you considered a (bio)diesel or conversion? Many of the domestic and behemoth SUVs sold today have a diesel option. I know a couple people doing that, and I'm looking into it myself. Biodiesel is the most green fuel available today (emissions) and you get a diesel engine that's reliable and economical, to boot. The political benefits of burning domestically produced fuels can be set aside as a separate issue. Oh, and then you can drive a car GBM will call "manly".

Shadow, the good old days. My first car was a used 1970 Hemi Cuda..Then again, gas was like 50 cents a gallon. And I feel quite manly in my Volkswagen. Ever crank up a VW Monsoon Stereo System?

Not saying anything bad about the cars. And you have had some nice ones

I am not looking to delete any of the posts actually. I wanted to play around a little with the features of this board. But once I created the thread while I was testing I wanted to then delete it. Soooo many people read this board I didn't want them to see my playing around.
