Shouldn't it be about the student/athlete and teaching of life lessons? Winning takes care of itself if the TEAM takes CARE of doing things RIGHT especially the little things. If it is about the chosen sons of summer ball then the hs sport scene here is in a state of dysfunction. Whatever...just play ball and try your best and your best will be good enough.

In addition, baseball reveals character of the player, the coach and the parent! And the spectators and the highly concerned third parties. These discussions seem to have morphed from concern for the student athletes to concern over the score of the game. Of course there will be shift in focus from inclusion regardless of talent to inclusion exclusively because of talent from the younger leagues to the major league. Let's not forget that this is High School ball, not College ball, not Minor League ball, and certainly not Major League ball. Try to win, sure, but let's argue more for a focus on character and less for a focus on playing the "the best athletes and bat your best bats, best baserunners, best sliders and fastest runners at the TOP of the order."

Thanks for the update Buckshot. What do you think is the reason that the Varsity team is 0-4? And I would welcome your imput on the JV team too.

JV has a winning record and Varsity has a losing record so far. What are their wins vs. losses this season? I read in the Bay Times today that in the varsity game against Queen Anne, the pitcher threw about 100 pitches, until his arm was hurting. WTF? Sounds like damage is taking place, and the coach was where? ??

Yep! I guess it really doesn't matter that we are teaching our kids that rules do not apply to them. It's all okay because they won the championship.
THIS is the reason our schools will never be known for the ivy league schools and service academy's we send our graduates to.
"Doesn't matter how you get there - It only matters that you win". Great message to send our youth.

"Doesn't matter how you get there - It only matters that you win". Great message to send our youth. It's a shame that you know not what you speak of. If you were coneected or affiliated with the school sports you'd know different. Now, what the parents are teaching...........
