I took my kids to Island Secret Garden in the old Outlet Mall. It's a great idea but a terrible and unsafe environment. There are ceiling tiles hanging half way out of the ceiling ready to fall. There were open electrical plugs where the very small children play in the pretend kitchen area and a lot of the toys are broken. I also noticed there was water in the tea set right by the open electrical plugs. The worst part was the broken light covers hanging down from the ceiling. What a disaster! I hope they have good insurance because it's a matter of time until someone gets hurt.

The owner wasn't there but like you said, they should know.

The owner wasn't there but like you said, they should know. I would call them..and let them know You noticed as well as some of your friends. If they know someone has noticed..they are more apt to do something about it in fear that someone might report them to the health department. Barb

I hate to be the bearer of bad news but it's not my job to let them know. Trust me, they know. It's not just one tile or one light. It's 20 tiles! I'm not going back and I would hope that any parent taking their kids to play has eyes to see what kind of shape that place is in.

It might not be your job to let them know, but it would be a nice thing to do because you could be saving a child from something horrible happening to them.

Don't you think it's the up to the parent to decide if their child will be safe there? You walk in , pay your $5 and let your kids play. If a parent can't see the tiles hanging down, that's on them. I'm not OSHA and the parent will actually have to use their brain and make a decision.

Two words & a question:
Occupancy Permit
How diid they get one?
Sounds like an accident waiting to happen and the county should be made aware.
Brooke: Listem to GBM..... OMG Did I say that?

The reason I ask is that too many people complain but no one reports (mostly because of fear or embarrassment )..so the offenders continue to offend. No offense to you. I will have a look..and tell them myself. I have never been in there...but I do have a young child...I would have no problem walking in...and saying something..and then walking out. But that is just me... Barb

I took my kids to another part of the playground and left after 5 minutes. My wife and I were both there and decided to leave. I'm shocked the place is open.

This thread is close to my heart. The concept is there. But, the execution is not. And, that means the $$s are not there to maintain.
While travelling with my kids, we have found the most wonderful Children's Museums. In fact, I was so inspired that I have written a preliminary business plan and became a member of the national children's museums association.
I know that I could make it happen. But, I know that my skills are not in fundraising. That's what I need.
Oh, those stupid dreams.
