What's it say about our society when the biggest news of the week is Anna Nicole Smith's death, and which of the three men is the father of her baby There's American soldiers dying daily in Iraq, Afghanistan, etc. that are now pushed to the back pages, while a sleeze who contributed nothing to society gets front page coverage on basically every form of media. A DJ on the radio this morning said "everyone now knows Anna Nicole Smith's name, but probably can't name one soldier killed in the war." Where's our priorities? I haven't even had my coffee yet this morning

"...Day 6 in a world without Anna Nichole..." They'll take a break to hype the doom & gloom from an inch of snow today though. Here's my take on why the news is so awful nowadays (man, I sound like a class-A geezer!) - Too many news networks. In the old days (geezing again) there was the morning soft news ala "Today" and "G.M.A." shows on the 3 networks, maybe a noon 30 minute newscast on a few local stations, the local 6PM news, the network news at 6:30, and local news at 11PM. That was it. With only 3 networks doing such a little amount of news, the stories that made it to air had to be important. Now we have more news on those same old networks, plus the tabloid junk-news shows like "Inside Edition", and the main culprit of junk news, cable news networks. CNN, Fox News channel, MSNBC, CNBC, Bloomberg, CNN Headline News, and probably a few that I'm forgetting, have 24 hours to fill and are all competing fiercely with each other for a pretty small audience. Sensationalism draws people in and it fills time, which they have way too much of. Cable News is basically 24 hours of "Inside Edition", so it should be no surprise that Bill O'Reilly used to host that show before getting the job at Fox, for example. I used to work at CNN and at a few local TV stations up in NYC and I saw the quality of the news really take a dive once the networks realized that the O.J. trial/soap opera was bringing viewers back to the news. Up until that point the networks and local stations were downsizing their news operations. Blame cable and blame O.J., and the viewers for wanting to see that junk.....

She seemed to be in a perpetual state of stoned. I wonder how this fairs for "Trimspa"?
