I'm getting mixed reactions to banning the guests on the Kent Island Online Forums. I knew that things would slow down a bit, but I also knew that it would make things more on the level.
There haven't been any "Guest" postings since January 2, 2009. What do you think? Keep it secure, or let them back on the main Forum?
Thanks for your input. I just want to make this site the best that it can be for as many people as possible.

Despite the pot not being stirred, keep it secure.
Maybe a registered will step up and become like I once was.

Give it time, I am sure a couple of the trolls will re register under new names.... (You can change your names...you just can't change your true colors)....and we can all sit back and laugh at how stupid they really are.....

Rich, ya did right! As a former "guest" (and, like I've said before, even tho' I'm a member now, I still consider myself a guest, and I try to behave that way!) it would have been easy to hide behind the anonymity and behave obnoxiously. Unfortunately, online media seems to "permit" people to think that what they would not normally say directly to someone's face is somehow ok to say online while hiding behind a nickname. I just don't feel it's ok to behave any differently online than I would to someone's face. And, by registering, it makes folks take some responsibility for their postings.
Eine has a good point, and she's also right - we can laugh at how stupid someone is if they decide to change names and act like nitwits.
I think requiring registration was a good way to go. Yeah, it's a little slower at times (not always, tho'), but the posts seem, in my opinion, to be more thoughtful and definitely less NASTY.
