Anyone hear anything about the fire at the Beach Harbor RV Park in Grasonville last night? I could see the flames from my house and the smoke crossed Rt. 50, but I couldn't tell (I assume it was a trailer) what was actually burning.

We could it see it from our house last night as well. We heard an explosion and looked out and saw the flames. We live in Chester River Beach and it looked to us as though it was in Winchester on Loblolee (Sp?) Way. I called 911, reported it and was told that it was in the Campground. It really didn't look that way to us and when I insisted I was told they'd send someone to check it out...never saw a soul. We went and drove Loblolee this morning and saw no evidence of a fire...couldn't see any evidence in what we could see of the Campground either though.

Heather,
It definitely was in the campground, not in the Winchester community. It was however somewhere just behind the Winchester homes. I saw the flames which looked to be about 20'-25' high, with alot of emergency equipment on site. I know that when I woke up this morning at 4:00, there was still equipment and spotlights over there.

Shadow1 - I hadn't realized just how close Beach Harbor was. I guess in the darkness depth perception is a little stunted. I could see the flames from the back porch, however in order to see the emergency vehicle lights I had to climb up the ladder of my swimming pool. Must have been some fire if they were still out there at 4am!

The fire started in the back of one trailer at Beach Harbor. 911 was called around quarter to eight. It was out by 10:30 p.m. Fire Marshall on site. Around 3:00 a.m. the fire rekindled and 911 called a second time. Fire extinguished. No one hurt. Fire marshall determined accidental causes. A reporter from The Record Observer was also on site taking pictures.

We are in Chester River Beach also and heard a helicopter and dogs going crazy. I didn't see the fire but knew something was going on. I hope no one was hurt

Kami- I spoke with someone from the Grasonville VFD over the weekend, and they said that nobody was hurt. It sounds like the owners of the trailer live in Rock Hall and weren't there at the time. From what he said, the fire was pretty bad and made even worse by propane tank/s being involved.
