I saw the heavy machines were pushing dirt around in that field across from the Red Apple center, north side of rt. 50. I thought at one time thats where the new Giant was going to go; does anyone know whats going to sprout there??

alanr, you must not be from around here because if you consider that waterfront farm being turned into townhomes as a nice addition to the island then you may want to consider moving back to where you came from, just a thought. ;D

HEY NATIVE! HOW YA DOIN'??

Native, I am from around here but since we all must face it "it's coming" it might as well be done nice. We don't have a choice. Yes I would love to see growth stopped but it won't happen. I also would like to see the crack houses closed down around here again that won't happen. Four seasons is coming also. I love the way it was 20 years ago but we all must face the fact we need CONTROLED growth and planned growth. This is something out board has no clue about .

In MY opinion: 500 new homes + four seasons + other developements in the works + NO Bay Bridge plans. DOES NOT Equal Controlled Growth and Planned growth.
Some on this board GET IT...

500 isn't really a big number and Four Seasons will only be retired people and.... and .... and....
They can cut down trees and rip up fields to find space for houses. But when I'm driving through the parking lot of the Safeway or standing in line at the checkout, I sure can't imagine where they're going to find space for another 500-2000 customers! Or maybe they'll just cut down some more trees.

alanr, if that is what you meant and you are from around here then i apologize but i still don't agree with having to "face it". We live in a democracy so this island should work as one also; listening to the votes and words of its islanders not just doing as every money hungry congressman, judge, and contractor wants to do. I just wish there was a way to make my voice heard and slow down th8is uncontrolled growth.
By the way whats up bchevy long time no speak

500 isn't really a big number How many cars do you have? We have more than two here. Using two cars per house, thats 1000 more cars or more possibly daily on the local roads, and a good chunk of them may even travel the bridge daily to work. And retired people don't drive........... right? It adds up, and the math doesn't look good for us with NO BAY BRIDGE PLANS.

bchevy: you understand that I was trying to be sarcastic, right? I agree with you, we don't need any significant increase in populatiountil there's a solution for some of the problems we have today.

Sad but true, alanr. They usually only do the right thing if there's something in it for them. It's a rare politician that comes along who will do what's right just because it's right.

I've dealt with a couple over here who generally seem to give a crap even though the good old boy thing is really tight in this county.

good ole boys vs. western shore average income vs. ridiculous income mostly blue collar vs. mostly white collar cares about where they live vs. wants to change where they moved to into where they moved from

Get ready - it's all coming whether you like it or not.
Forty years ago PG and Montgomery countys were no different than this area, then it happened, urban sprawl.
Might not like it, but learn to live with it.

I hope Native wins, because I really, really hate Ritchie Highway, and that's what it's starting to look like.

Have been dealing with the ggod old boy network in Centreville, since September 2005...I agree, it's who you know, and who you blow, and they don't give a d**n about an elderly citizen of the county.

Quite simply, don't give the new places your business. Cross the bridge for auto service. I hate all the auto places here too, but somebody if giving them business. If don't get enough business, they will start closing and hopefully the next guy will think twice about putting another car place on the island. Problem solved.

The good ol' boys have let us down They've even made our natives frown Too much corruption in our town We have to take away their crown.
The builders come to take their dumps Into campaigns their money pumps The good ol' boys sit on their rumps While all the trees become tree stumps.
Paint it on the police cars.

We tell our kids, "Go hug a tree" But what we say's not what they see Developers destroying free As we sit by in apathy.
What's it gonna be?
It's too nice to sit inside writing rhymes. I'm going out on my deck to listen to the bulldozers.
