I am in the process of researching options for Kitchen and hardwood flooring throughout the house. I have looked into Abbey floors and need some advise on other options in the area. Any info on past work for Abbey floors and other flooring install places in the area ( Bills, carpet one?) Any help would be great!

We used Abbey to have hardwood floors and carpets installed over the summer and they were great. They dropped off the wood the day prior to installation but was able to complete the job in one day. They came back and did the carpet the following day.
We didn't do a lot of comparison shopping because we were moving from out of town but I thought they were great.

CB Flooring out of Columbia is a huge company that does entire neighborhoods at a time, as well as single homes. Their prices are very reasonable. I know someone that works there and he is really good at what he does. Their number is 410-381-5400 and web is www.cbflooring.com I also heard that the flooring place by Big Bat's is good too - but a bit pricey. I think that Benjamin Moore in the Red Apple shopping ctr does all kinds of flooring too.

Kent Island Abbey is one of the oldest family owned stores still around here. I think someone said they started like in the 60's. I've used them a couple of times and they have been great. I know a lot of the builders use them because they stand behind new home warranty's and they pretty much match or beat anyones prices. Kinda neat to stay local and support a local business.

Got my carpets (on two different occasions) from the place by Big Bats. They did an excellent job installing the first (installer looked like Flea from RHCP). The second was a remnant which they bound. Had some issues with size but they eventually corrected everything. If you get an estimate, get it in WRITING.

Check Standard Carpet in Annapolis by Burlington & Safeway. They do hardwoods. I have purchased carpet and hardwood floors there at least 4 times over the last 10 years. The most recent being 6 months ago. I priced Abbey Floors, Bill's & Lowes,Home Depot and one other place in Annapolis and even Empire. they have had the lowest price and best service. This last time I purchased very high end carpet and I went to Abbey's which had the same exact carpet and it was 900 hundred dollars more ( no exaggeration I promise ).
I was under the impression that Abbey Floors was a little family owned business and that was one of the main reasons I went there originally, but the very nice person that worked there told me Abbey Floors was a huge company and gave me the impression that it was not a locally owned business. I really wasn't that interested in taking the conversation further at the time so I really have no idea if maybe it's a franchise situation and somebody locally does own it. They just did not give me that impression, but they were super nice, just really expensive. The other thing I like about Standard is they give you a lifetime warranty on the installation and they do back it up. I had to have the carpet stretched at my old house 3 times and they did it every time for free. Even though at the time I purchased really cheap carpet and they warned me it would probably stretch and get lumpy, and I also shampooed this poor carpet to death, they still came and re-stretched it for free every time. Okay now I'm Done. LOL

Just an update; Just had three bedrooms done in carpet, hardwood and tile in other rooms from Kent Island Abbey Floor Store, awesome workmanship and they beat two other prices I brought them. The price they beat was for the same exact materials, very impressed.
I asked about the "Abbey" thing and they stated that the same family that started the business on the Island in 1969 sitll owns it and Abbey is a large company that they deal with to get better prices. Apparently as a small store they didn't have the buying power so they partnerd up with Abbey. Apparently they still can get any kind of flooring stuff you need. Glad I stayed local!!
