Alright !! Who let the cat out!
Looks like the April issue of Men's Journal will have KI listed as the #1 commuter town in America.
Here is the list:
BEST COMMUTER TOWNS 1. Kent Island, MD (Washington, D.C.). 2. Gainesville, GA (Atlanta). 3. Stillwater, MN (Minneapolis). 4. Nyack, NY (New York City). 5. Fairfax, CA (San Francisco). 6. Hingham, MA (Boston). 7. Parkville, MO (Kansas City). 8. Vashon Island, WA (Seattle). 9. Bandera, TX (San Antonio). 10. Oxford, OH (Cincinnati).

Since when is Kent Island a town?
When did Kent Island become a suburb of DC?

ShoreTerp, I was wondering when "Kent Island" had it's own zip code. This is the problem, these moronic DC'rs come to live over here and want to change the face of everything. It is no longer referred to as Stevensville, but "Kent Island". I can't stand it.

I think they meant Kent Island commutes to DC. Not that Kent Island is a suburb of DC.
Mike, I know it drives you crazy. Kent Island refers to all the communities in our area, Stevensville, Chester, Romancoke.

But when people come to look for "Kent Island", thinking that it is just an Island, they won't find it, because "Kent Island" is no where on a map. But what about when people say "located on Kent Island".

What about people who live on the "eastern shore"? or how about going to "the beach"? "the midwest"? or "from the south"? People that vacation in Hawaii rarely go to Hawaii, they go to Oahu. None of those places are on maps as intended, but we all know where they are refering to. You are really hung up on this "Island" thing. Yeah, we live on an island, sorry!

The point is the ranking was for top commuter towns. Kent Island is not a town. I haven't seen "eastern shore" or "the beach" listed as a town anywhere. "There's no life west of Kent Narrows..."

There are plenty of maps that have "Kent Island" on it. Our High School is "Kent Island High School", it's the "Kent Island VFD", a bunch of area businesses are "Kent Island" something-or-other, this site is "Kent Island Online", and everyone within a reasonable distance knows where "Kent Island" is, not so much if you ask about Chester, Romancoke or Stevensville. It's the same with "Tilghman Island". Who's heard of "Sherwood"?

Sherwood Forrest? The place in Annapolis with it's own zipcode and post office?

My mother-in-law still thinks Kent Island is in Kent County, so she calls in a panic whenever something happens in Kent Co. which thankfully isn't that often.
