A recent lawsuit could result in speeders who've been caught on camera to get a refund for their ticket. Lawyer Tim Leahy told WJZ-TV the tickets turn illegal when the contractor receives part of the funds. In Montgomery County, about 16-dollars of a 40-dollar citation goes to the company who runs the cameras. If the lawsuit becomes class action, thousands of speeders could get a refund.

I think that might be a little silly. If the county was to spend the millions of dollars to install them and then take all the money people would be mad they haven't contracted them out to save the county money. But in order for the county to save money a private company takes care of the instalation, maintenance and leg work.
Not saying i agree with speeding tickets by camera ( i was nailed on 295 by RFK about 5 years ago for 200 bucks!). But silly lawsuits like this cost money. When you sue the government your suing yourself.....

I'd like to read more details, but if the government is not following the law, then I have no problem getting my $40 back from MontCo...
