Didn't mean it to sound as though the Sheriff was driving it himself. I should have said the Sheriff's Department.
Nothing was said bad about the Deputy who was in it.

Upon taking office the Sheriff took a new Dodge Durango K-9 vehicle that the County had just spent $3,000 on for modifications for the K-9 Officer and Dog. He had them take out all the the special K9 equipment that was just put in because he wanted it! Yeah, the Lt's and above really need a 4wd SUV to drive back and forth to work........like they would really be the first one out there working in a snow storm, flood or hurricane. Give me a break! They should be driving the older cars that are available after the patrol guys are through with them. What a waste of money.....business as usual.

Facts? Hmmm?
All I wanted to say that they got a new car (that's one, not a whole fleet) that's a smidge different than all the rides they have that look like they should be painted yella and cruising the streets of NY with a driver in it that has a towel around his head that can't speak English.

Just when I was starting to think the policeman is my pal. Now I feel all cynical and cranky again.

Presumably he is referring to other threads and is having a b**ch fit. I often have b**ch fits myself, so I feel his pain.
Even during my worst episodes, I don't type in all caps.

I have a feeling that some of us have known the new sheriff for quite a while and that is why the opinions are so strong.

Yeah he let me drive that thing. Its fast but feels heavy, its got armor all over like the vehicles in Iraq. He explained his name on the side is a requirement from the department. They also require there underwear have there initials on them.

Look on the bright side...
I used to live in Honolulu, where the police were allowed to drive their own privately owned vehicles as an option...completely unmarked save the little blue gumball light on top they would put up when on patrol. They were paid mileage, which apparently was actually cheaper to the PD than maintaining their own fleet, and most police loved it. Getting pulled over by a tricked out Acura just didn't seem sporting, though!

So Chevy, did you take Pete up on his invite? And we are all here awaiting the scoop from Chevy, on what details Pete has provided. Was wondering if everyone who attended, wore matching tinfoil caps?
