There was a big spike in registered users all around the same time. I found 4 with the same I.P. address which usually means that it's the same person. It could be a few different people using the same computer (like a work computer), you never know.
I think that it would be great to do an actual "best of" in person. Find a location (maybe the KI Vol. Fire House or "Main St Cafe" or even a park) and hold taste-offs. We could make it a big deal and do one a month - and keep it yearly, so the "Best Crabcake" or "Best Pizza" or "Best Burger", etc would be the same month every year. For the pizza, have each area place do the same pie - maybe just a basic - and cut them into really small pieces. Each person at the taste-off would be given a different a piece of paper with each place's name on it, and they would drop the paper of the place that they liked best in a jar. Totally anonymous then.
What do you think? Would people show up to this? Would people be willing to pay a couple of dollars at the door to cover the rental or whatever costs? Would local businesses contribute? It would be great exposure and we would advertise it big-time. Worth a try?

Heck, I would volunteer my time, energy and help to pull it off!!! A most excellent..excellent idea. With the right advertising...venue, and community help.....It could really be a "Big" coop for the community....Doing something like that monthly might be wearisome....but maybe doing it quarterly this quarter...pizza, burger and beers, next quarter night life, steaks, seafood.. etc. etc. etc. .you know...make it a "Best of Festivals". Four Festivals a year....could be a lot of fun!!!!

Great! What's a good venue then? We'll do it for free too - heck I've never made a profit in 10 years on this anyway

Good idea BUT... bad idea, local business make no money, or so they say.... I don't foresee local pizza places making and giving pizza away for free... too d**n cheap

That's an awesome idea Rich!!! I'll volunteer - whatever you need... As far as location.. wouldn't a park probably be best - at least $$$ wise??? Not sure, never used a state park for anything... just a thought!
GBM _ I think the businesses would participate because it's going to get them more business... gotta spend money to make money... I think they'd be up for it...

Terrapin Park? They have a picnic area. There's also a very small picnic area at the Romancoke pier. I'd volunteer my backyard if it were big enough! ;D

I'd like to do a park too, but I'm not sure of the restrictions. Maybe the Jetty parking lot too? It's actually owned by the county and the Waterman's Festival always seems to do well there. I'm not sure when the new Firehouse will be done - but their ballroom would be great as well. I'm thinking that it would be a strictly charity event that's not for anyone's profit, so hopefully a venue will be kind to us... Getting the word out would be be biggest challenge. We have this site and WNAV radio, but we would likely need to do some advertising in other places as well.
