I'll be doing the Bay Bridge Run this year (a friend twisted my arm and legs...). It seems odd that we'll need to go to Sandy Point to get on a bus back to KI, but we're willing to do that to register, etc. Anyone do the race before and have any advice?
I've done the walk in the past and enjoyed it, but this adds a new dimension. Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks all.

My understanding according to the Bay Times last week is you can catch a bus right here on RT8 at the Business Park but get there early because it fills up quick

I would love to walk across the bridge. But I dont have enough patience to stand in line for a shuttlebus to take me to Sandy point so I can pay $1 to stand in line for another shuttlebus to take me back to KI. Then walk across so I can stand in another line so another shuttlebus can drive me back to KI again.

Yes, but it will be very organized and very safe (from a Homeland Security standpoint).
Wouldn't it be nice if this was turned back into a family event where you could park on either side, walk to the other, then catch a bus back to where you walked?
And, personally, I don't feel the least bit threatened if you brought your backpack or portable radio.

It seems to me that the terrorist have one, when we have to ride 2 busses in order to begin a family event that starts 1 mile from my house.
We have outsmarted ourselves.

If you don't want to wait in line for 3 hours to take a bus back to the island just walk across and then turn around and walk back. That's what my group did last year.

This might be the best year to do it because it will be cool. I don't know what to expect with transportation either. At least they are giving out cold water along the way.

From our friends at WNAV Radio:
Bay Bridge Walk Returns:
April 26, 2007 (Annapolis, MD) -- Officials with the Maryland Transportation Authority are gearing up for next month's Bay Bridge walk. Executive Secretary Ronald Freeland tells the "Star Democrat" that crews will actually start to prepare the night before, by shutting down all traffic on the eastbound span. Walkers will start in Stevensville then make the more than four mile walk across the eastbound bridge and into Sandy Park. Officials are reminding people that there will be no parking available near the bridge. Walkers will have to park in designated areas and take a shuttle bus to the bridge. The walk will be held Sunday May 6th. More information is available online at baybridge.com.

Jason, you didnt get nabbed by Homeland Security as Al Qaeda? No, but since we were walking against the flow of traffic people kept laughing and yelling "you're going the wrong way!" After about the 10th idiot saying that I was ready to start tossing people off the side, but I rested easy knowing that they were going to get to enjoy a 3 hour wait to get back to their cars while I sipped a beer at home.
