The Government is seeking a National ID Card for all its citizens. The ID Card would only be effective if you were required by law to carry the Card at all times, and if the Police had the authority to demand you to produce the Card under penalty of law.........When the seat belt law was enacted the Police were not to pull over a citizen for just a seat belt violation. We now have click it and ticket seat belt week advertised on Radio & TV....I vote no ID Card.

Don't get your panties in a wad... there is no National ID card. The feds have only established new mandatory requirements by each state to determine the identity of each person and a standard list of info that needs to be on the front of the card. Currently some states do not have birthdays or issue/ expiration dates on their licenses. There is some talk of states opting to have additional personal info added to the info that is already obtained by the magnetic swipe on the back but no federal requirement nor is there a method of transmitting your data to the fed. goverment. www.dhs.gov/xprevprot/laws/gc_1172767635686.shtm

How goes your case with the best investigator the new Sheriff Department has going? Never mind, I already know the answer to that one! The Sheriff will just keep stringing you along, the question is, when will you realize it?

One thing that people around the world cannot believe is that just because a person is born here, the child of an illegal, that child is a US citizen.
In most other countries, if the parents are not citizens of that country, the child that is born there is NOT a citizen of that country rather the country of the parents.
No whats wrong with enacting that right away?

It was NOT the intent of that law to be what it is today. It's a real shame how the courts are re-defining laws....

While this may be true for some third-world countries, I believe most western nations follow the rule that a child born within their borders is by right of birth a citizen.

I don't think that Holland can be considered a third world country, also south africa. It's more common than you may think.

If you have child in Germany, Spain, England, Korea, Turkey, Philippines, Italy, Austria, Switzerland, Belgium and many other countries and you are an American Citizen, the child has dual citizenship up until the age of 18 or so where they then decide their Citizenship. (Of course I am only speaking from experience from being in the Military and living overseas for X amount of years.) But those countries I named above I have actual knowledge of the rules (at least for military). As far as a National ID card goes....I disagree. But when I first saw the title of this thread....my quirky mind was thinking....Great..they finally found a way to boost attendance at the Nationals games!!!! hehehe!!!

And you can add Ireland, Australia, Canada, and many others to that list.
To be fair to shoreman, he may have meant to say that "in most other countries, if the parents are in the country ILLEGALLY, the child that is born there is not a citizen..." to which I would agree.
