Isn't that romantic? Have her arrested before proposing. Creative.

Someone should be charged with malfeasance in office. The tax payers should be reimbursed out of the Politicians pocket. Our politicians, and Police work for us. We are paying the bills. This kind of crap happens all over the Country, because it's condoned....Pete Richter for Sheriff 2010

I could see if it was just the boat, because as long as they weren't being taken away from something else, its not a big waste.....but a helicopter? THAT is an expensive thing to run.

I cannot imagine what this guy was thinking. How could he possibly think that this action would be an appropriate use of taxpayer dollars? He clearly abused his power by abusing his access to certain resources. The average person could not propose to their loved one using these resources....if this wasn't an abuse of power then I wonder what, other than his access to these resources, made him think he was special and entitled?

He's a politician and the son of another powerful politician. That pretty much makes them "special" in their own eyes, I think. Aren't our politicians wonderful???

You know, this might have cost nothing at all. The boat may have been on patrol anyway, the officers may have been on the boat anyway, and the helicopter may have been in the air anyway. There may have been no additional cost.
Don't we all take advantage of the resources we have available to us? Is it surprising, in general, that this guy used the resources available to him to make his proposal memorable? Yes, there is a line that shouldn't be crossed and no, these were not really *his* resources to use. It was a foolish move and a poor decision both by him and the officers that took part.
But put that aside for a moment and consider: If you were the woman would you have been able to see the humor in all this and accepted the proposal? "Hey honey, remember that time you thought you were going to be arrested but really I just wanted to propose? Wasn't that fun?"

To which my probable response would be: "You do realize that by contacting me, you are in violation of the Protective Order I have against you, right?" ;D ;D ;D ;D

The whole thing was inexcusable. The police employees who authorized this should be reprimanded.
(Sorry, WRONG button, no edit)

Hey, look... How else is an idiot like that going to get a woman to marry him? "Marry me? It's either that or these guys are booking you on a series of drug trafficking offenses, baby..." Ain't he romantic?
