I thought it might be interesting to see where everyone is originally from, and what was everyone's first real paying job?
I'm originally from central Illinois, Decatur; spent two yrs in Champaign, grad high school there and moved out of state.
My 1st job was working in my uncles grocery store when I was 12yr old making .50 cents a hour stocking shelves and bagging; the next summer I worked in the local corn fields "rouging" corn for $1.15/hr, was a lot of money back then..used the money to buy a mini-bike....... ah, the memories..

Annapolis area.
I mowed lawns since I was 5 or 6 for $20/yard/week. Now THAT was goooood money for a little guy 25 years ago. I loved cutting grass, so the yards looked nice, and I got "twenty whole dollars" (as opposed to parts of dollars?).

Ah, yes. I made $3.40 an hour at McDonald's - They gave us the extra 5 cents an hour over the minimum wage for a clothing allowance. I think that was in 1984...

I was so cute!!! LOL) I did that every summer till I got what I considered a real job at 15 working for the local vet!
