So there we were last night at my daughters H.S. graduation ceremony .... Anyone other than me there last night thought the guest speaker (Smash from 98 Rocks)...totally sucked? Basically all he did was give his BIO, plug his radio show and congratulate himself for having the same job for 19 years and just inked another deal for a few more... Anyway..thought it was boring...But at least it was short...and he get props for that at least!~~ To any other members or guests who children graduating from H.S. last night! I salute you!!!! This was our last child....and she was the most difficult....But now she's off to Senior Week at Ocean City.....hoo boy.....

We were there, Smash was a LOT easier to listen to than most of the stuffed shirts that are ususally up there. We were near the front of the field seating, it was also entertaining to see a couple of teachers chasing the beach balls tosssed from the guys side of the class, the lady was especially looking perturbed... Did you see the principal refer to, and introduce Commisioner Warzgot, and the Commisioner introduce himself as Wargotz? She was immedialty checking her papers.... Our boy is at the Ocean now........... Yeah......

"Stash" from 98 Rock? What's his connection to KIHS? That's not good for a guy who's job it is to entertain people to be dull... I hope that he wasn't trying to talk anyone into the radio field because it's not what it once was unfortunately... Plugging his show is lame too. BTW, I'm on the radio right now

Rich, I have always wanted to be on the Radio....I have no idea why I never chased that dream....but in H.S we got to do ads . on the local radio station and TV station, and I thought it was so cool.....I did voice overs and all sorts of neat things...
To this day, I still would love to be on the radio....even if it was nothing more than doing voiceovers and commericals. Or remotes out mingling with the public......

If he followed the dramedy, ever had ISS or Saturday School or extended day, or spent a lot of time in Mr. Engles office ...and could be thought of as a "Bad Boy"...then they might possibly known one another......

Luckily there are a bunch of smallish community radio stations within driving distance that you could probably get into if you were willing to work on the cheap or even as an "intern" (for free) for training. WNAV in Annapolis, WCTR in Chestertown, WCEI in Easton, WCEM-FM "The Heat" / WTDK "The Duck" / WAAI-FM in Cambridge, WINX-FM in Easton, public radio WRYR-FM in Deale and public radio WKHS-FM in Worton, and probably a few that I'm not thinking of. The smaller stations also tend to allow more freedom to have a personality and aren't so based on ratings, so while they don't pay what a big city station pays, they are usually more fun to work at if you are looking to just have fun, in my opinion.

My wife was there, and the first thing she commented on was the horrible commencement speaker. Who gets a rock DJ for a graduation? D-U-M !
I heard the studend speeches were great !
And I got to see someone get pulled over for speeding on Love Point Road for the first time, right after the ceremony. I didnt even know that the Sherriffs office knew that there was a speed limit through Stevensville.

My wife has attended KIHS graduation for each of the last 6 years and said this is by far the worse. Usually they get Sandusky to speak, who I understand is a bit dry for the kids. So I guess they wanted to go to the other extreme.
Backfire.

Very out of touch. HS kids don't listen to rock anymore, they listen to Hip-Hop (unfortunately). That means that the kids and the parents both had no interest in this guy.

Well some of us still do......and both my kids have the greatest appreciation of "Rock" music!!! "FREEBIRD",,,,,,,,Ok...it just doesn't come across as cool in print as it does me yelling it in my office......LO!!! heheh!!! My oldest graduated from H.S. last year and although I can't remember who the speaker was....he cut it short because the clouds were moving in....LOL!!!

WRONG! not all of them, and maybe not most of them..... I listen to country when I'm driving, and classic rock in the old car & in the garage. Imagine my shock to hear my High School son listening to everything I still have in the 8-Track case........ Skynyrd, AC/DC, .38 Special, Hatchet, Zeppelin, and on, and on, and on, AND IF you were there you would have seen most of the graduating boys greeted Smash as they exited the stage as did 1/2 of the girls, they know him.
