OK - I have 4 kids so needless to say - we go to McDonalds probably once every other week or so... Unfortunately here in KI - we only have one and this wouldn't be a problem IF the one was decent... Aside from recent disappointments - screwed up orders, no soda, etc... here's my most recent complaint/rant - 1st - went about 3 weeks ago - ordered 4 double cheeseburgers - one plain, one no ketchup and a couple of drinks... that was it.. got to the window - received 2 double cheeseburgers - the "grill" ones and 1 drink... asked uhh... ordered 4 burgers - 2 drinks... hello... didn't ring it up... ok - paid for th extra - got my stuff and left... 2nd - Went again tuesday evening... ordered a #2 w/ a coke, #7 w/ a root beer, 3 double cheeseburger happy meals (one plain) and 1 nugget happy meal - all w/ orange drinks and that new shrek shake... first - the guy rushed me thru the ordering & totaled up my order before asking "IS that all?" so when i asked for the shrek shake the guy told me i had to order at the 1st window... ok - move on - 1st window to add on & pay - lady there doesn't understand english and has to get someone else to add on to my order... OK - moving on ... got it added & paid... next window - missing the root beer for the #7 and low & behold, the shake... i told the lady at this window that we were missing a medium root beer & the shrek shake - THIS LADY DIDN'T UNDERSTAND OR SPEAK ENGLISH EITHER!!!!!! it took me 10 minutes to get 1 medium rootbeer (after we had to show her the size of our other drink & repeat "rootbeer" about 6 times) and the shrek shake - again a manager/someone else had to come to the window. Here's my complaint/question - WHY IN THE HECK WOULD YOU PUT SOMEONE AT THE DRIVE THRU WINDOW WHO CAN BARELY SPEAK OR UNDERSTAND THE ENGLISH LANGUAGE??? What genius came up w/ that idea? Where I work, alot of my field guys are hispanic & some hardly speak alot of english - BUT they are 2 man crews and there's always someone who can! ALSO my guys are all in english classes trying to learn the language better - they can understand most of what you say - they have a hard time responding... they are making an attempt. my boss would NEVER put someone out in front of a customer who would not be able to understand to handle a problem - because ultimately that makes him look bad... WTF - McDonalds?

I'm feeling you Shorti. But believe you me, it's not just McDonalds as I'm sure you're aware. Kind of like that wide eyed expression they give you, like "huh"? I don't understand what you're saying. Before you relise you're dealing with someone who doesn't speak the language.

It's the same in Ocean City. Many of the workers are Hispanic or Russian and can't understand a simple question in English. I had to tell the housekeeper "five towels" in Spanish. Unfortunately I don't speak Russian.
Come to think of it, we've had the Espanol experience at Burger King too. I'm thinking about writing a Spanish fast-food phrase book to help English speakers get by in the Hispanic monopolized fast-food world.

I went to Hardees about 2 hours ago and had no problems. I almost forgot my drink and the guy at the window made sure that I got it. I refuse to go to this Mc'd's unless I have no choice. They always forget something but always make sure to charge you for it. Shorti, I have 3 kids so I understand how frustrating it is when they forget someone's food.

Its bad at McDonald's ever time I go there too. But last night I went to Dunkin Donuts and when I asked for a coffee Roll she went to ever donut. I was pointing right to it and it still took her going to every one. She also didn't understand I was trying to get a coffee. It doesn't make sence to hire people that cant speak english and don't know what there doing.

WOW!
Who in the world goes to Mcd's, especially the DRIVE THROUGH, and makes a special order, yet alone multiple special orders. Anyone who does that is asking for punishment.
If you want it your way, there's only one place to go. Burger King.

I think Wendys is definitely the slowest. Even when there are no other customers...you wait and wait. I was there tonight and I do applaud them for hiring the mentally challenged, but the guy working the counter really gives slow a new meaning!

Isn't it odd that we can say things like "Wendy's is always slow," and "even when there are no other customers," or "ever time I go there too?" We know it has been bad, we expect it to be bad, yet we go back again and again. Is it masochism or Albert Einstein's definition of insanity: doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results?
If only the owners/managers cared about good service and not just about maximizing profits.

well brooke - typically we do - however this day we were picking up the dog from groomer, and trying to get to my son's graduation by 6pm... there are times that grilling/cooking just isn't feasible - if you're a mom, especially a working one... you should understand...

Dood, you're on the WRONG Site!
Recipe translation:
The paella can be done a many forms. The following one is my favorite prescription and has shellfish, hog, chicken and sausage.
Ingredients: A cup of rice for 4 people, half a kilogram of shrimps, a piece of sausage by head (or sausage without flavor to herbs), a piece, they sin~ or, of chicken and another of hog, by head. Tambien you can put him vieiras (scallops) An onion, AZAFRAN, red pepper.
Itself magpie the finite onion and the pepper is cut in you shiver. The meat is gilded. The shrimps can be put peeled or with cracked, above all if they are entire (with head) and large, they can be put on top, of decoration. If you have water to cook shellfish, better. If not, water is heated until boil. While, themselves frie the rice in two spoonsful of olive oil and they go~ ade the cxebolla and the pepper. The rice this ready one when is put white. one must revolve. The fried food is or in dish or in pot, not in sarten.
The azafran (what can catch with three fingers) is soaked in water (a little bit one of alone water) and tambien go~ ade to the fried food. When the rice this ready one, they go~ ade the pork and chicken and the sausage. They are thrown him two cups of water boiling (by cup of rice) covers and is left that harms to boil. When it does it, itself drop the fire until boil very slowly. There is people that puts it in the oven.
I do it in the fire, but I put one of those tin platings with pits between the fire and the pot. Al cado of some ten minutes, they go~ aden the shellfish s and I watches and generally delays (since they go~ ade the water) from 20 to 30 minutes. One must go testing the rice to see if this soft one and if is seen that themselves drought a lot, they go~ ade a little bit one of hot water. Of course all is a lot but simple if you use a pot of teflon.
NOT ONE MUST REVOLVE THE RICE BY NINGUN MOTIVE SINCE is ADDED the WATER.
It was forgot me the salt. ... (To flavor of the cook, with the water.)

I was going to say that is a recipe with fish and rice what does it have to do with McD?! At first I thought it was a spanish retaliation for the above posts until I read it.
What I find funny is that there is another thread on this board that speaks of how your kids don't want to work (no offense my friend N. who posts on here about her child I know of your problems and this isn't meant for you). Why are there so many people working at McDonalds who can't get an order right or who can't speak english? Because your kids don't want to work. If they did they would work there just like the rest of us did while we were in school. Fast Food restaurants have high turn over because kids today think it is above them to work there. The managers have a hard time getting staff at all so they take what they can get. Have you ever seen the same person twice there? Outside of a handful promoted into management I say no. Not taking away from ya shorti I am always the first to complain when I receive bad service somewhere so I can imagine your frustration! I would have boycotted them for less!
