I just wanted to add my thoughts on Bob's trash. I signed up for one reason and one reason only the price but I guess the old saying you get what you pay for is true. I have had the service for 3 weeks and they have missed picking up my trash two of the three weeks and when I tried to call this past week because my trash was still here on Wednesday night and was suppose to be picked up on Monday I was on hold for 15 minutes and then a message came on all our reps are busy try your call again later. Then I noticed a Budget truck outside and they were picking up my neighbors trash that they missed and didn't even realize they missed mine. They told me the truck broke down and the funny thing is when I signed up for the service that was the selling point if one of our trucks break down we can put another one on the road well that didn't happen. Lesson learned pay a little more and get good service.

I signed up 3 weeks ago and they have been great. Signed up on a friday, had my cans and recycling bins on sunday and was able to get my first load picked up the next day. Since then they have not missed a day.
When i called i talked to someone immediately and sign up was easy.
Oh yeah, and the price is great.
So far so good for me....

Well first of all no I don't work for the competition. As far as this being my first post it was the only topic that I actually had a comment about. I just wanted people to know my experience. Every time they have missed my house I have gotten a different excuse. If I would have read all the post prior to signing up I probably would have chosen someone else.

I have seen so many of their trashcans around the Stevensville and Grasonville areas. I don't have their service and don't know anything about it, but it appears that they've gotten quite a few people to sign up for their service.

justbayk........Commercial dumping requires a permit from the state. No permit = Violation of the law.

So you've been lurking around and bob's trash is the issue that got you off the bench? Unlikely. May not work for the competition but related somehow is my opinion...

Did anyone notice that Bob's opened an office here? It's where Island Tattoo was, next to No Place.

That corner location had a lot of different business ventures...unfortunately some of them closed down sooner than later.

That corner location had a lot of different business ventures...unfortunately some of them closed down sooner than later. Well, let's see Island Printing was there for many years and just moved across the road to Duty's buildings. Charlie & Shirley did the same thing...since then there's been one business in each spot. That doesn't qualify as a lot. Bob's is going to live or die on its service and pricing. We used them at our house until this past week. We changed when Waste Management came back to us with a better offer. But Bob's was just fine, garbage was picked up each Monday around 3:00 pm or so with recycling materials picked up every other week as promised. So, in case you haven't noticed by the attention this island's residents are getting from the trash/recycling industry, there is a price war going on which will benefit everyone. Since our county doesn't sign a contract for residential trash pick up, this is open territory. Competition is a good thing remember?

Yes, competition is a good thing for sure. Only when it's fair competition. I called New Vision's Virginia 877 office number, that I got off the website when I saw that's the trucks they're using. They confirmed that Bob's is 'New Vision'.
Who cares, right? ... Well 'Bob's' continuous lies = poor business practices and when New Vision comes in there won't be any other competition to go back to. This happened to me and my business... (not trash, but...)... and it was devastating.
Remember it's the local businesses who are the backbone of our community.

I am very glad I did NOT sign up with Bob. I notice in my neighborhood their trash is not picked up on many days, their recycle many times is not picked up at all. Now American Waste is starting to pick up recycle every week! I have been very happy with our local company, they give great service and I am looking forward to their recycling service. I know many people who made the mistake of switching to Bob, they are now switching back to American Waste.
